DIRTBLONDE in LONDON
New Liverpool band Dirtblonde is playing two gigs in London this July:
Mon 5th July @ 93 Feet East
Sun 11th July @ Bull And Gate
The drum-machine powered duo is influenced by the likes of Sonic Youth, Jesus and Mary Chain, Ramones and The Vaselines. It's cool, punk music...really original and unique, for a change.
The gigs usually last less than 20 minutes, and end in a mess of noise, really cool and chaotic...no time for bullshit. They were thrown out of the venue after their debut gig, for damaging gear...on their second gig, Lula Blue broke her bass, and how many girls ever do that?
Currently they are at the centre of a very 1978 controversy on the Wirral, where the council axed their performance in a park festival, considered having the band would be "inappropriate"...it made the front pages of one local newspaper and is still nowhere near a conclusion...
If you want a band that's truly new and exciting, go and see Dirtblonde. Why wait for the stupid music press to tell you what to like? Be there first...

There's gotta be people who still think rocknroll can be new and exciting, music made by the outsiders not by unoriginal wankers ripping off the past playing their expensive guitars, like most darlings of the music press right now.
