Tom Krell wasn’t pulling any punches with the title of this album. Devastation and testimony are the name of the game, with the track ‘Set It Right’ standing as the emotional centrepiece of an album full of deeply felt feelings, of confusion and despair. But also of hope. By consecrating these emotions in BPM, the sense of testament creating release and catharsis is so utterly potent and relate-able that the LP possesses in an inescapable and supreme realist majesty. The outcome of such a sensation is the suggestion that whilst perhaps not yet prepared to overcome in itself, the ground has been laid.
