Kasabian - Velociraptor!
Kasabian are well known for their big stadium anthems such as 'LSF', 'Club Foot' and 'Fire.' Their new album however, is very different than their last three albums. Filled with more laid back and stripped down songs, Kasabian fans will either love it, or...just love it, because have Kasabian ever made an awful album? Never.
Tom Meighan can really pull off a romantic song. 'Goodbye Kiss' is a love song about saying goodbye to your other half. It's one of the most "indiest" songs in the album. Sounds happy, but the lyrics are sad but positive. "Rock N Roll sent us insane, I hope someday that we will meet again."
With 'Switchblade Smiles' sounding very techno and more modern and 'La Fée Verte' sounding more older and slow, this album has a mixture of different styles in it, which is very Kasabian anyway. Their latest single 'Days Are Forgotton' has a big anthemic chorus and that is what Kasabian are more well known for. A hook.
I have seen them live recently recording for The Album Chart Show for Channel 4 last week, in which they previewed some of the songs from 'Velociraptor,' The song 'Velociraptor' itself is a very energetic song which they opened with, and I must say, that song is amazing live. One to watch out for when seeing them live.
This is one of the best albums of 2011 so far in my opinion and I think Kasabian fans will agree.
