Miles Kane - Colour of the Trap
He got us excited about this album months before it was due to come out when he revealed that Noel Gallagher will be featuring on one track. The song called 'My Fantasy' features the one and only Noel Gallagher on backing vocals and it sounds amazing. Miles' voice sounds very rock 'n' roll and with Noel's high pitched backing vocals, it sounds perfect.

We know Miles Kane formally off of The Little Flames, The Rascals and his supergroup with Arctic Monkeys frontman Alex Turner, and now he's solo and to be honest with you, I prefer him on his own.

He has collaborated with a few people on this record including his Last Shadow Puppets partner Alex Turner. They worked on a song together called 'Telepathy'. Gruff Rhys from Super Furry Animals features on 'King Crawler' and 'Take the Night From Me'. Model/actress Clemence Poesy provides vocals on 'Happenstance' and Noel Gallagher of course features on 'My Fantasy'.

The record balances out fairly with a few calm songs and a few rocky songs including his debut single 'Inhaler' and second single 'Come Closer'. One thing I noticed on Miles Kane's songs is that he uses his whammy bar a lot to get that vibrato sound. His new single 'Rearrange' has that sound to it and a few more of the songs on the album has it also. I think that's Miles' sound.

The song that stood out for me is the album track itself 'Colour Of The Trap'. It's the only song that made me feel quite emotional and the lyrics are beautiful.

We do hear a lot of influence on this album. Of course there's quite a few Lennon-esq and Oasis inspiration somewhere in the album which was expected.

A great album. British rock 'n' roll at it's best right there.
