Although to date only SOTY have given their side of the story, it appears that what happened is as follows: During their live set in Indiana on 29 May for some radio station, SOTY got their fans to press up closer to the stage putting added pressure on the security guys at the front, at least some of which were on the Godsmack payroll. After the band came offstage they and their road manager were approached and then attacked by memebers of the Godsmack road crew and security.
Although the band admit they lost the fight (just like Good Charlotte did to Winnebago Deal... god I love mentioning that!), hearing that SOTY guitarist Phil Sneed 'picked up a metal box and smashed the pussy face production manager in the head with it' is bloody funny.
Godsmack have yet to comment.
