American Concept Album
jmoore by James Moore January 20th, 2001

**A host of American artists have recorded tracks for an album put together

by Chris Slusarenko the former Sprinkler guitarist.**

Grandaddy, Guided By Voices, Stephen Malkmus, Lou Barlow and Quasi were all

approached by Slusarenko last year to record songs for 'Colonel Jeffrey

Pumpernickel'. The album is based around a book written by Slusarenko himself.

Each of the 16 tracks on the LP represents a chapter in the story. Visual

elements and artwork for the album was provided by notable comic book artists

including Peter Bagge and Adriane Tomine.

"It's something I've been thinking about for a couple of years, but I've

been really quiet about. It seemed like something that might be really exciting;

to challenge people to do something that's more of a collaborative whole,"

says Slusarenko.

"The whole project turned out really amazing. Everyone was really impressed

with everyone else. It's a really charmed project."

The album is set to be released in March.
