Sigur Ros head to the pool for next album
oappleby by Ollie Appleby December 8th, 2001
After the win of the first Shortlist prize Icelandic four-piece, Sigur Ros are to follow up their last album, the critically-lauded Ágætis Byrjun.

The band are said to be planning to head to an indoor swimming pool that has been converted into a recording studio in Reykjavík, Iceland. Georg Holm, Sigur Ros' bassist, says: "We've started recording a new record and in December we'll start working a little bit more, the new music is very similar, almost the same, (as Ágætis Byrjun) but I guess we are rocking a little bit more now."

The as-yet-untitled album is due around the end of 2002 on MCA Records, Ágætis Byrjun producer Ken Thomas will be working with the band again.

As well as the new album, Sigur Ros will also be writing music for 'Hlemmur' an Icelandic documentary chronicling the lives of homeless people living in a (probably quite cold) bus station.
