MTV Europe Music Awards: winners in full
Mike_Diver by Mike Diver November 3rd, 2006

Depeche Mode were among the winners at last night's MTV Europe Music Awards.

The veteran synth-rock trio took home the award for the Best Group category at the Justin Timberlake-hosted event in Copenhagen. Recently in the news for totally non-musical reasons sort Madonna was nominated in three categories - Best Pop Act, Best Female and Best Album - yet won nothing.

Bo Selecta comic Avid Merrion mocked the singer, who didn't attend the ceremony anyway, by dressing as her and saying: “I’m getting too old for this shit. I’ve been getting a lot of hoo-ha from the press recently just because I bought a baby. But I’m Madonna. If I want to buy a baby, I buy a flipping baby.”

A flipping baby? Can little kids do that without gymnastic training? Only Africans? Cool.

Alongside Depeche Mode, the only other British winners were Muse, who triumphed in the Best Alternative Act category, and The Kooks won the award for Best UK and Ireland Act.

All award-winners were chosen by MTV viewers. The full list of winners, as advertised in that headline, is below...

Best Male Justin Timberlake
Best Group Depeche Mode
Best Hip-Hop Act Kanye West
Best Song Gnarls Barkley Crazy
Best Pop Act Justin Timberlake
Best Female Christina Aguilera
Best Rock Act The Killers
Best Alternative Act Muse
Best R&B Act Rihanna
Best Album Red Hot Chili Peppers Stadium Arcadium
Best Video Justice Vs Simian We Are Your Friends
Best UK & Ireland Act The Kooks
