Nick Cave & Bad Seeds 3-CD set out in April
Lorelei_22 by Laurel Dreher February 9th, 2005
Nick Cave fans, it's your lucky day. Out on 4 April is a 3-CD set entitled 'B-Sides & Rarities' which promises 56 tracks previously unreleased tracks from Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds. The collection spans over the 21 years that the group has been writing and recording, and it includes exclusively material that previously had been deleted, featured on various soundtracks, or just had never been released before.

"We tried to include everything that came under that criteria," said Mick Harvey, a founding member of The Bad Seeds and a co-ordinator of this project. "The other criteria was that it was a Bad Seeds recording not a Nick Cave recording. There isn't anything by Nick working with other people or by himself, it's just Nick with members of The Bad Seeds."

The group's most recent release, 'Abattoir Blues/The Lyre of Orpheus', has already attracted much attention from music critics, having been voted Mojo Magazine's "Album of the Year." But with so many tracks to sift through and much material to be sorted out before the compilation could be made, Harvey maintains the group wanted to wait for the opportune moment for its release.

"I originally put the idea of doing this 'B-Sides & Rarities' collection in 1996/97, compiling two discs, as it would have been then. The general response was,'Yes, great idea. We just have to look for the right moment to do it.'”
