yo. DiS quake action. and unlike duke nukem, it'll work.

first download these files:

http://www.runoutgroove.net/qu.iso
http://www.runoutgroove.net/fquake14_installer.exe

then:

1. burn qu.iso to a cdr.
2. wait for it to pop out your cd drive
3. stick it back in
4. install quake!
5. load up fquake14_installer.exe
6. choose the recommended download option
7. it'll download the stuff you need and install it
8. then on start menu load
"ezQuake Starter"
9. you can mess about with the first screen of options if you like but there's no real need.
10. press start
11. WOAH ITS QUAKE!
12. on the console type:
Connect *ip address of host!*
