I love the Carling weekend. Ive been doing the whole hog since 95 and this year will be my 3rd at Leeds (sorry Readingites, but its a superior site) and i cant say im too excited about it as i think its a pretty poor line-up.
The carling stage was announced yesterday and last night i went onto Myspace to check out most of the bands that had been booked to play on it. I'd never heard of most of them and after giving each act a fair old crack, i can see why. The majority of them are shitty, conventional, boring American - schlock-rockers! Dont believe me?! do as i did and check them out, and dont say i didnt warn you.
There are so many great british bands around at the moment - Help She Cant Swim, Art Brut, Victorian English Gentlemans Club, The Stop/starts, Tigerforce etc and they,ve all been ignored so the worst from the U.S. can bore you to death with their 'New-Wave' rock-bollox! Whoever booked this years batch wants theirs ripped off! It has the giant whiff of those in charge being totally out of touch with the current scene.
Does anyone else think this years line-up is somewhat 'Lacking'?
