when everyone else in the world was bumming My Morning Jacket, I was obsessed with Canyon's 'Empty Rooms', which came out at the same time, occupied the same musical space, was ultimately overlooked in favour of (the inferior, I reckon) 'At Dawn'.

Anyone remember them? I've been listening to Band Of Horses a lot recently and they remind me so much of Canyon, so I dug it out and it's amazing, one of those albums that sounds like it could have been recorded yesterday or 40 years ago, like Iron & Wine, mixed with proggy guitar feedback and reverb. There's no sign of them on the web, no wiki or MySpace, so I'm assuming they called it a day, but they're well worth investigating if you like your Americana. Honest.
