i think people who are geniunely great at making (pop) music generally also have the attribute of having 'a look' about them, and are generally good looking. case points (off the top of my head not neccaserily my faves) - mccartney, lennon, jagger, syd barrett, bolan, nick drake, hendrix, bowie, morissey, kate bush, cobain, albarn, thom yorke, doherty. also i feel that great bands that have less of a look are generally less mainstream or less performance based eg electronica -- just an idea what do people reckon?
