Bio
Led by singer-songwriter Richard Neuberg, the band's line-up has been forged over the last five years. They are;
Josh Hillman on violin and viola (Josh is also a core member of Boston's acclaimed Willard Grant Conspiracy); Nick Simms on drums (Nick has also been the drummer with Cornershop); Rob McHardy on guitars, lap steel, banjo and mandolin; Mick Young on stand-up and electric bass, and Emma Seal singing backing vocals.
Many of the songs on 'Where The Killers Run' have been crafted as if they belonged to some distant mediaeval past. Richard Neuberg's songs tell of "cannons calling," of "poor men praying," and of "kings and princes hanging out the dead". They are mythic ballads - stories of sin and salvation, of persecution and redemption - into which Richard manages to weave elements of his own difficult life stories.
No doubt due to their choice of instrumentation, the music of Viarosa is sometimes defined as a version of 'Americana', but on closer listening, there is something quite different, quite distinctly 'Anglicana' about Viarosa's own brand of folk-rock.
