Bio
Half Spanish and born into an eccentric, bohemian musician family, Tigs grew up in the sleepy country town of Woodchester.
Inspired by the New York punk of Patti Smith and Television and the tortured poetry of Steven Jesse Bernstein, Tigs dropped out of college and started writing her poetrty, and then songs. At 17 she moved to Bristol crashing on floors picking up the dole.
Through friends she met Dimitri, a French writer/producer and together they started recording a collection of dark, brooding songs. Working both in London and in New York Dimitri, and later her friend Nick Zinner helped her to realise the songs she had in her head. "He's the greatest guitarist of our generation, right along with Ewan".
"We live in an era of flash-in-the-pan bands who will be forgotten next year. I dont want that."
"I want to make smart, literate music," says Tigs, now 24. "I wanted to make a record that was interesting and inspirational and different, for people with brains behind their ears."
