In a culture of boredom and borderline alcoholism four school buddies congregated to form the ultimate band of rock and roll motherfuckers. This didn’t quite work out as planned so instead they formed Throat. Drawing influence form post hardcore American bands like Helmet, Quicksand and The Jesus Lizard whilst paying respectful homage to AC/DC and Led Zepplin these four intrepid adventurers started playing out and soon after attracted some serious attention from the industry.
It wasn’t to long before they were offered a deal, and finally signed with the newly founded Riverman Records (a joint venture between Placebo / Brian Ferry management Riverman, Sanctuary and Ministry of Sound) in late 2001. After blowing their entire advance on a wardrobe consisting of matching Evil Knievel outfits (no shit) the band released their debut record “Knievel is Evil” (presumably to justify their purchases) to critical acclaim.
Throat are currently recording demos for their new record and are looking for a new home.
