Bio
thisGIRL was formed in NOV 1999 after previous bands; Marsha Wray & Hood split. Members from both merged to form GERL which would later become thisGIRL. After starting out playing to small audiences around South Yorkshire thisGIRL began to make waves and quickly earned a reputation for amazing live performances. Now after only a relatively short time together, thisGIRL were starting to attract attention from audience’s further a field. In March 2001 thisGIRL were invited to join Monkey Boy on their 2001: A Bass Odyssey national tour. It was here that four teenagers who had hardly been out of Rotherham, were unleashed on the UK – a chance the youngsters reveled in. Now the potential has been spotted in this energetic four-piece, a record deal was imminent. UK based independent label Lockjaw Records stepped in and they released their debut album and a selection of singles over a couple of years. The band have subsequently left the label, and are currently looking at slapping thighs with one of the big boys.
In the meanwhile, thisGIRL have released a track on Fierce Panda's none-more-hip Squirrel EP and been in the studio recording new tunes.
thisGIRL feels the music will find a name for itself... Only by mixing the multitude of styles that influence Liam, Matt, Chris & Ryan individually, do they manage to describe the music. Although audiences are sometimes lost for words, describing the stage show is not as difficult! The band may only remain still for a few seconds and if you blink, you may well miss something...
