Influenced by the likes of Nina Simone, Edith Piaff, Nick Cave and Led Zeppelin, Essex-born Londoner Gemma Ray has exhilirated audiences in North London with her band Gemma Ray Ritual, as well as across the river down South, in particular the New Cross Inn. Her sound incorporates a mix of blues, country, folk, rock and a good deal of Celt as well. In 2004, she toured the UK with Noahjohn, and recorded her debut album Radiology in the summer, which was released soon after. Part of TwentyFourRecords and appeared in their I Swear I Was There compilation at the end of 2004, Gemma Ray Ritual looks towards another strong musical charge with the Raw & Unplugged album.
