Forming from the ashes of electropunk upstarts Sub-Culture, The Firm has been in business since March 2006. Bridging the gap between leftfield and pop, theirs is a potent mix of post-punk, new wave and shoegazing. Lyrically, their literate wordsmithery conjures up an all-pervading sense of doomed romanticism while being unsettling and often very witty (typically displaying a black sense of humour) and even references literary and celluloid staples such as Ballard, Wilde, 'My Beautiful Laundrette' and 'The Long Good Friday.'
This surreal tapestry is woven through the group's intricate post-punk collages, a unique combination of intricate guitar melodies, ethereal drones, screeching feedback, pounding basslines and rhythms of both a tribal and dancey persuasion, all bringing a cinematic intensity to proceedings.
