Bio
"The Deirdres are a lo-fi post rock / shoegaze / silly band like no band before them. Well, they're a bit like a few I suppose.
Located in Derby, England, the Deirdres currently consist of 8 members: Gemma Wood, Sophie Barker, Louise Croft, Roger Fairs, Russell Lomas, David Cripps, Keir Thomas and Amy The Ginger One. One of the founding members, Sinead Galvin, left in November 2006.
The band rose to fame in October 2006 when they appeared on the BBC Antiques Roadshow programme, where they performed the theme music, much to the delight of Michael Aspell and the crowd. An appearance of Challenge TV soon followed, and the band started playing gigs later that month, making their debut at the Halloween party of the Greyhound pub in Derby.
With the support of Doktor Cocacolamcdonalds and the Greyhound pub, The Deirdres are using their large arsenal of musical weapons to wage peace against the pub-going folk of Derby."
