Bio
Tessellators are based in London in the United Kingdom and are available to play anywhere in the world for a modest, negotiable fee (usually between £0 & £Beer). They share a love of Built to Spill, Captain Beefheart, Battles (especially live), The Band and Fugazi. Individual members' tastes tend to vary and this is not an exhaustive list of their influences.
The four Tessellators were in the band the Hundred Handed for several years. Sadly for all concerned, their singer & driving force announced that he would leave (amicably) in late-2006, which led to the creation of Tessellators after Dan, Beare, Alex & Moh resolved to start a new venture together. Dan plays the guitar & sings. Beare plays the bass, the guitar & sings. Alex plays the drums. Moh plays the keyboard, the guitar & sings. At some point in the future any member of the band might play something else, like the tambourine or the trumpet. Multi-tasking is good.
The name 'Tessellators' could be a reference to how the individual shapes that each member creates fit together to make a larger, more complex pattern. Maybe this will be suggested in print at some point in the future. Similarly, 'Tessellators' could be a reference to how the band members have to efficiently organise their equipment into a confined storage space week after week. It is unlikely that this will ever be suggested in print. The naming process was long and involved a complex points system that was largely ineffective.
2007 will be spent writing, recording and playing first shows. 2008 will be spent consolidating the live show into something that could be described by impartial observers as 'an event', with more recording towards the end of the year.
