Pretend Girlfriend are a four-piece indie rock band who've been together for three years, during which time they've built up a solid local following. They're now looking to expand their horizon of influence and hook a wider audience with their gimmick-free, hook-heavy indie rock.
Listing Sex Pistols, Oasis and Squeeze as their influences, Pretend Girlfriend make a point of sticking to their musical guns and refusing to bow down to trends. They see their lack of frills and their focus on true-to-life lyrics and straight-forward rock'n'roll entertainment as their greatest asset in a time when any originality quickly becomes the next generic trend. Refusing to follow fashionable attempts to feel different is their key to rising above the crowd. Hence their saying that by maintaining their integrity, Pretendgirlfriend have become the different band.
Borrowing The Wildhearts guitars this 4 piece band from the streets of Burnley have the stories and melodies that capture the soul of East Lancashire with all the integrity of the The Clash. A band of the people for the people - A3h Promotion
