Bio
Pale Faced Princess are:
Rosy Smith - vocals, electric guitar, acoustic guitar, flute.
Ellen Forster - electric guitar, bass guitar, vocals.
Steph Gomaa - piano, keyboards, vocals, harmonica.
Hannah Pickard - drums, vocals, glockenspiel.
Formed in Liverpool in late 2002, Pale Faced Princess started off playing at various acoustic nights across the city, and soon became renowned for their bittersweet summery stylings. In 2003 drummer Hannah joined the band and the girls ditched the acoustic guitars for a darker, more expansive sound. Since then the girls have continued to make their mark on the Liverpool circuit, along with taking their music to audiences in Newcastle, Leeds and Bradford.
Once described as 'the perfect hangover cure', with their mixture of distorted guitars, four-part harmony and driving piano rhythms Pale Faced Princess have created a truly original sound. Each band member brings different musical influences to the group, resulting in a unique and exciting blend of styles.
Musical inspirations include: Mogwai, Explosions in the Sky, Muse, The Pixies, Idlewild, Belle and Sebastian, My Bloody Valentine, Sonic Youth, Mum, The Music….
Anyone who's seen a Pale Faced Princess show will know that they are full of delicious contradictions. A typical set will feature three-minute pop songs one moment and vast, atmospheric walls of sound the next. These are girls who will blush and giggle before collapsing into a barrage of noise that will creep under your skin, and stay fixed in your head for hours afterwards.
Debut recording the Permanent Dawning EP is out now, and available for order/download from the official site.
"Intriguingly bonkers...like nothing i've ever heard before....the most interesting thing i've heard all day" - Dave Whibbley, A&R manager for Skunk Anansie, Babybird and the Lightning Seeds.
