Ormondroyd formed one wet and windy night in a scruffy Sheffield hall of residence 2 years ago with floormates Ollie and Ste bonding over arguments over the cultural validity of powerpop and a mutual love of Mercury Rev, Spiritualized, Pixies etc. Starting life as an acoustic incarnation numbering 3 (Ollie, Ste, Dan) they set about rehearsing for their first gig in a fortnight's time at the much feted Tapton Music Festival.

The gig being a resounding(ish) success (and with a new addition in Mike) the lads carried on with fire in their bellies to subsequently play numerous acoustic gigs (mainly at Tapton), each time resolving that they'd go electric next time. A year and half later they finally got off their lazy student backsides and recruited good mates Rob and Gash to play Keyboard and drums respectively and a new, loud, exciting Ormondroyd was born; an Ormondroyd that aimed to lose none of the subtlety and occasional beauty that characterised the acoustic 'droyd.

A few rehearsals later the 'Droyd clambered clumsily on stage at the Grapes and a new chapter was born...
