Mr Shiraz are an 8-piece Band hailing from Huddersfield. After a short labour the band exploded out in November 1999, playing gigs around England, they soon developed a strong following from the UK Ska/Core scene. First described by the YEP as a cross between "Slipknot meets The Selector" they soon developed a sound and energetic style all their own.
These days the group can boast gig's with a host of national and international bands including Therapy?, The Slackers, Left Over Crack, Alkaline Trio, Reel Big Fish, The Pilfers, Crackout, Voodoo Glow Skulls, King Prawn etc.
With the band receiving more and more national and more widely European attention, Mr.Shiraz played a hugely acclaimed set at this years Carling Festival which really put the band up there with some of their former peers.
Mr.Shiraz have just completed a second hugely successful European tour in November where the band covered a staggering 8 countries in just 2 weeks (and even got themselves thrown out of the Czech Republic - twice!), the band have a energy fuelled live show which has to be seen to be believed and have also been crowned this years 'MeanFiddler' "FutureSound 2001 Champions" beating off stiff competition from over 350 bands from around the UK.
Having finished recording their second EP titled "Nelly's Kitchen" which was launched with a sell-out show at The Cockpit (Leeds), is currently receiving rave reviews and radio play across Germany, Belgium and the Czech Republic, Mr.Shiraz are in now in demand which has forced the band to extend their planned UK tour in early 2002 and are now planning at least three European tours next year as well as a tour of New York and Chicago in April 2002 with Warner Records "Standpipe Siamese".
With an amazing year coming to an end, 2002 is going to be bigger and better with more UK & European tours planned and even a bite of American Pie around the corner in April. Mr.Shiraz are a refreshing break from the norm, which is why the producers at "RealLife TV" (Ch.4 & MTV) have decided to jump in with both feet and follow Mr.Shiraz for a behind the scenes warts n' all documentary to be screened in Autumn 2002.
