Bio
Cult French film director whose excellent catalogue of films are full of superb visuals (Like Tim Burton and Terry Gilliam, he came from an animation background and has a lot in common with their visions of the world) and equally quirky humour, surrealism and a love of eccentric characters (apart from the last film in the Alien franchise,'Alien Resurrection').
First came to prominence working with long time collaborator Marc Caro on the surreal black comedy 'Delicatessen' in 1991, followed by the even more gothic 'City Of Lost Children'. His breakthrough into the big league came with the quirky romantic comedy 'Amelie' in 2001. Has reunited with Amelie star Audrey Tautou in 2005 for 'A very Long Engagement'
