The philosophy of Hiding With Girls is a simple one: play what you enjoy and enjoy what you play. Who could say fairer than that?

Formed from the ashes of East Sussex melodic hardcore quintet Imprint, Hiding With Girls pride themselves on musical sincerity and lyrical honesty, strict in their reluctance to play anything that hasn't come naturally to them. Vocalist L believes that the birth of Hiding With Girls was ultimately an inevitable consequence for the constantly evolving and style shifting Imprint: "Without really intending to, we kept adapting our style to gel with whatever bands we were regularly gigging with at any particular time" he says, "So we eventually ended up with a set that was part metal, part emo, part hardcore etc. We'd span from extreme aggression in one song to total upbeat melody in another. It all came out as kinda confusing rather than dynamic. For the crowds and for us." But Hiding With Girls is a far more focused and ambitious unit, with their targets aimed sky high: "Now that the legacy of Imprint has been laid to rest for us," muses L, "Hiding With Girls will be a honed, channeled release of music and energy that evolves from the five of us being together in the here and now. We won't be constrained by our history anymore, and can just get on with writing good songs that move people, emotionally and physically."

With a combined passion for heavy guitars born from years spent with extreme metal, but a sense of melody rooted in a latter day love of emo and post hardcore, Hiding With Girls are certainly a promising and exciting proposition. Debut release 'Marty McFly' is a slick cut of guitar riffage, impassioned vocals, and glorious pop sensibilities that the band believe no one will be able to resist. Says L: "Hey, even if you hate the song, it's one of those tracks that you'll find yourself humming in the shower and you'll end up getting so irritated that you give in. That's what all the best songs do, whatever genre they're coming from." The best part of all this is that Hiding With Girls are only just getting started.
