Bio
Halifax Pier are a 6 piece US band, who use violin and cello in addition to usual line up of guitar, bass and drums to create some of the most beautiful music you're likely to hear. The band have released two albums; 1999's self titled debut 'Halifax Pier' and the sublime 'Put Your Gloves On And Wave' from last year, both released on the well respected US independent label Temporary Residence, home to Explosions In The Sky, Tarentel and Kilowatthours amongst other fine bands. they've been compared to low, the dirty three and the for carnation.
"With its six members living all across the United States, the Halifax Pier still manage to find the time to write, record and perform some of the most heartbreaking music in recent memory. Resting somewhere between dark folk and lulling chamber music, their telling tales are those of loss, love and hope. Strikingly poetic lyrics, intricately plucked acoustic guitars, strings and percussion help the stories become so real."
