Bio
Dopamine hail from Caerphilly, South Wales and formed at the begining of 2001. Born of the ashes of two local bands, Superunknown and Retroflair. The band consists of Neil on vox and guitar, Jim on bass and Sam on drums. They are all in their early 20’s and have been friends since their school days. Dopamine were formed with the aim of bringing something new to the scene. Their unique blend of phat ass riffage and melodic vocals has to heard to be understood. Live shows are raw and fuelled with passion and energy.
Dopamine takes influence from many artists including bands like Nirvana, Rage Against the Machine, Dashboard Confessional, Glassjaw to name but a few. All have played part in the sound that Dopamine now create, along with an appreciation of geniuses such as Stevie Wonder and Lionel Richie. During 2001 Dopamine spent time developing their sound and building a live following. The band's recorded tracks "Broken" and "Disorder" were recorded mid 2001 and produced by Lostprophets Bass player Stuart Richardson, "Sick Lie Future" and "Lose Your Place" were recorded more recently by Chris McDonaugh. All four of these tracks are available for download at mp3.com as well as on a demo.
Dopamine have played many successful local live shows, headlining with Lostprophets and Supporting Mclusky to name but two. Moist magazine said " Raw, energetic and full of emotion". TYA fanzine said " The more you listen to Dopamine the harder it is to let go".
Dopamine have recently recorded a live 5 track evening session for BBC Radio Wales on the Adam Walton show.
