The DIY Cravings began life in Surrey in late 2002. After a couple of jams as a two-piece Alex (guitar, vocals) and Will (drums) decided to bring in Dan on bass. The idea was (and still is) to write and play great pop songs, but with plenty of distortion and raw energy.

They clocked up around 30-35 gigs in their first year, mainly around London and Guildford, but this did included at jaunt to New York. A trip that gave them all the encouragement they needed to make damn sure they did this for a living one day.

In early 2003 they recorded the 'Bolivia' EP. It was this CD that gained them their first national radio play, after DJ Bob Harris took a shining to 'This Town', leading to numerous plays on both his Radio 2 and 6 Music shows.

One venue the band are grateful to is Aldershot's West End Centre, which has given them the opportunity to support and meet bands such as 22/20's, Mower, The Sights, Art Brut and The Ordinary Boys. It has also helped them build up a good local following.

In early 2004 The Cravings headed to Bath to record 'The DIY Cravings' LP. In 3½ days they recorded and mixed the songs that would be whittled down to ten tracks for the final version.

The rest of 2004 was taken up with more gigs, including a second appearance at Guildfest. This time, headlining the Unsung Hero's stage on the Saturday night. The band have also been played on XFM and Radio1, interviewed on Delta radio and had an interview and unplugged session on 96.4 The Eagle.

Now, in 2005 they are currently practicing hard, still striving to be the best band in the world. With this in mind, they have added a new member on drums, with Will moving on to second guitar duties. And with a single release on indie label Exercise1, they are one step closer to world domination.
