Bio
Since taking to the stage for the first time early in 2004, Edinburgh based singer/songwriter David James Herbert has enjoyed considerable success, picking up good reviews for a number of live dates around the country and completing his debut album 'Turn Up Your Silence'.
After starting several bands with limited success in his late teens, David turned his hand to DJ-ing, promoting his own clubnights, playing rock n roll, punk, reggae, northern soul, indie, blue's and ska - and anything else he could get his hands on. With such a varied record collection, his own songwriting began to feature glimpses these genres, whilst still creating a fresh sound.
After securing a job with a local recording studio, and feeling confident in his own songs, it was time to test them out on stage, playing Edinburgh venue Whistle Binkies to rapturous applause. Playing various open mic nights around the city and gaining momentum, he started his own showcase for Edinburgh based singer/songwriters at the Roxy Art House, Out Front, and began recording at close by Groove Tunnel studios, producing his own record.
Turn Up Your Silence features Rod Spark on hammond organ, who recently recorded with Ronnie Wood (Rolling Stones/Faces) and Steve Craddock (Ocean Colour Scene/Paul Weller), with one track Faith in Me staying in the BT New Music Chart top ten for four weeks.
Recently moving down south, David has been busy playing dates around London, and rehearsing with his new backing band. With more gigs and recording lined up for the next few months, and with interest growing steadily, 2006 is shaping up to be a hell of a year.
