Bio
childhood friends DAVID WASON (guitar/vocals), ANDREW MILLS (drums) and JOHN McCRACKEN (bass/vocals) formed what would eventually become closer while at school. like all bands, it took a while to find their own sound and they started off by playing bad thrashy pop covers at school discos, unintentionally becoming a living embodiment of the smashing pumpkins gone country. one crisis-ridden summer, they discovered lo-fi (or grunge as it was called then), and headed off towards a new musical sunrise. when john left the band, he was replaced by NIGEL "INDY" DUNN. the band's direction took a vibrant new route and a fresh energy was evident.
closer have gone from strength to strength in the last year - performances at (amongst others): gig on the green (2001 + 2002), king tuts (with nada surf, sparta, cooper temple clause etc.), and radio one's snowbombing have helped establish a good live following. their popcore sound (think weezer meets ...trail of dead) sits well with the current musical climate, ensuring regular airplay. wider exposure is imminent with the lead track in upcoming teen comedy here comes trouble...
