Band Members Names - Role in Band:
Andrew Brown - Lead Guitar:
"I'm 21 and have been playing guitar since 1994. I'm through and through Welsh and have lived in Wales all my life. I'm a lead guitarist who favours Stratocasters over any other guitar ever built. My early influences were people like Eric Clapton and Stevie Ray Vaughan, but as I progressed I got heavily into the more advanced guitarists such as Steve Vai and Yngwie Malmsteen, who is my all time hero."
Steve Ewing - Guitar, Vocals:
"I'm 20 years of age, of Welsh parentage and have been playing guitar since I was 10. I have been writing and composing music since 1994. My musical influences are Nirvana, Bob Marley, Pink Floyd, Jimi Hendrix...... .not to mention all the other classic artists/bands from the 50's to the 90's."
Alfie Hunt - Drums, Vocals:
"I'm 19 years old, born in Wales and have been playing drums since 1989. My main influences are based in blues and jazz and I have loads of performing experience. My family has many musical interests and I have always been encouraged to pursue my own musical career."
Gordon Everett - Bass Guitar, Vocals:
"I'm 24, first picked up a bass in 1994 and now consider myself to be an established bassist with plenty of performing, recording and session work experience. I am influenced by a wide variety of styles and have the ability to play whatever a song requires. I enjoy being able to provide a wealth of experience and influences in producing MYST's material."
Brief Band History:
Myst were formed in 1995 in Carmarthenshire, South Wales by Steve Ewing and Alfie Hunt. At that time their musical influences were based around the funk and reggae genre. Over the last 2 years however, together with Andrew Brown and Gordon Everett, the band have developed their own individual style .
For the past 18 months MYST have been writing and recording new material, whilst also rehearsing their live performance 6 days a week. None of this would have been possible without the help and encouragement of the "New Deal" advisers who have guided and advised them all the way. Two of the boys are now working but the band still finds time to practice five evenings a week.
The New Deal scheme has funded recording studio time, photo shoots, CD production costs, a web site and much more. This along with lots of professional advice has given MYST a solid grounding from which to promote their talent.
The result of all this work is a band second to none; a band which has received a phenomenal response wherever they have played, so much so that they are now recieving interest from management.
Discography:
MYST have produced a limited edition 6 track EP called 'The Eagle', a 12 track album is currently being pressed and two songs have been chosen by a professional studio in Cardiff to be MYST's first single. (These two songs - 'Childhood in an old man's suit' and 'We'll rise in the end', were written as singles whereas other material has been written for live performance or album tracks).
