Dear DIS, i think you meant to say that following the shameful editing of posts containing details of the line-up on two forum threads yesterday, and also that Teletext ran the story anyway, here is some old info to warrant DIS being invited to a press conference.
...
Rage Against The Machine & Metallica are two of the headliners. So the internet says.
good
ridiculously good band.
someone get them over to the UK for gigs please
..
i saw the proposed site last year - it's actually really small and the surrounding area is only dockyards. Not like it's a forest or scenic beauty spot.
The tower was going to be predominantly accommodation - all for U2's family and friends. The band were going to have a separate lift just for their own use to get to the recording studio at the top.
this
is horseshit.
i suppose next year's list will be topped by youthmovies. if so, i'm outta here.
tsk
dear dis staff. if you bothered to read the forums (and not relied on press releases), you could have had this news as an exclusive two months ago, courtesy of me.
Yuck!
Rubbish band.
Split up now.
tour is...
Norwich waterfront 20/1
Portsmouth wedgies 21/1
Notts Rescue 22/1
Leeds irish 23/1
MCR uni 27/1
Oxford acadders 28/1
Brighton Kom 29/1
London Koko 31/1
should
have added:
Maps - We Can Create
Jimmy Eat World - Chase This Light
obviously
playing one of the NME brats astoria shows then.... if the london date has yet to be announced, and is also in the same week as the NME shows are traditionally held...
..
and Manchester, Bristol, Liverpool, Glasgow and Birmingham
...
my gripe is that it is very old news + I'm annoyed at the music press simply running a story because some PR company has sent them a message. any decent editor would expect their journalists to have run the story when first announced (2 months ago).
absolutely
lazy journalism. Obviously a press release sent out - as the DIS and NME stories are practically the same.
Here is the NME one:
US chart-toppers Modest Mouse have announced details of two UK shows.
The band, who feature former Smiths star Johnny Marr on guitar, will play Liverpool and London in September.
The set is likely to feature highlights from the band's fifth album, 'We Were Dead Before The Ship Even Sank', which topped the US charts in April, and has sold 1.6 million copies worldwide.
The dates are as follows:
Liverpool Academy (September 2)
London Forum (September 3)
Similar structure? Hmm! I suppose DIS wins with the added inclusion of Connect Festival, but both deserve slapped wrists for running the story when the news was announced about 2 months ago.
extra dates
full UK tour dates are:
6 Dec Yeovil Orange Box
7 Dec Cardiff Ifor Bach
8 Dec Milton Keynes Pitz
9 Dec Notts Rescue Rooms
10 Dec Sheffield Corporation
11 Dec Leeds Cockpit
12 Dec Glasgow King Tuts
13 Dec Manchester Academy 3
14 Dec Birmingham Barfly
15 Dec Oxford Zodiac
17 Dec Portsmouth Wedgewood Rooms
18 Dec Colchester Arts Centre
20 Dec London Mean Fiddler

I CHUFFING HATE THE GO-TEAM.
Go-team = Go-away.
I'd
hardly call their Dec dates successful, when the ULU gig was downgraded to the bar at Islington Academy due to zero ticket sales!
this

but any sad fans may be interested to know they play Water Rats on March 3rd.
Or

saw them open for At The Drive-in's Camden Electric Ballroom show 'back in the day. They were nothing special.
i
stood near here at the Vue cinema in Leicester Square, at the Get Shorty sequel premiere. She was RIDICULOUSLY fit. AND i don't even like R'n'B music. so there. indie.
Oh yeah
Sonic Youth doing Daydream Nation could fill out Hyde Park.
Bunnymen - Ocean Rain. Good call.
Cocteau Twins - Treasure.
Ride - Nowhere.
Sisters of Mercy - Floodland.
Sunsetyellow
good call - I vote for those too, especially Ultrasound.
I also want to see:

Bang Bang Machine
Primitives
Darling Buds
Eve's Plum
Coldplay
Compulsion
Dr.Phibes & The House of Wax Equations

Groove Armada play 5 nights there, complete with brown-nose thank you ad in NME to the venue.
My
favourite current listens are Pale Saints and The Sugababes.
The latter's new single is ridiculously good.
Did...
someone say Michael Jackson?
I like
the song 'Injured Pop Stars'.
Anyone care to break the law and post it as a 'yousendit' file?

embargo?
I'm not a music journalist.
So you're telling me that no-one has ever posted info on this forum before that wasn't previously public knowledge?
I take it you're trying to suck up to O2 again for a repeat of the first Wireless festival where DIS sponsored a tent?
