Its nice to see a Slowdive piece
But Pygmalion deserves a much better treatment. Maybe its just me but I don't hear the jazz inflection at all (brushed cymbals? Really?) I think if you're looking for what Pygmalion influenced, then I'd wager Labradford were definitely paying attention to the spaghetti western/crackled ambient style (that I haven't come across anywhere before Pygmalion) on Mi Media Naranja. If its not clear, I think Pygmalion is amazing.
Looked like
a lot of fun. I'm glad DiS is checking out stuff like this. Great article.
Nice article
They're a band I'll never stop listening to. Its all so wistful and romantic, but fed up, pissed off and tense. I particularly liked the part about 'Fourth of July' - they're way more euphoric than people give them credit for. Its not exactly glutting your sorrow on a morning rose, there's more negation, but its beautifully indulgent all the same.
great album
excellent review too
i hope
you're that accommodating when it comes to sets
The squarepusher
LFO one might get my cash money
wow thats a great line-up
808 State were one of the best things at Primavera this year. Ive wanted to see I-F for the longest while too. Yeah, Im definitely going to this :)

If it hasnt been tried yet, who is to say?
Also, I am interpreting the term "float away" through cultural lenses.
You should be ok
Plus, theres always spare tickets floating around come December anyway.
A Jelvins set

i am unwilling to say anything else that will not improve my chances
Good review Mike
and a fair score I think. Though I would definitely say that The Smiling Cobra does more than buoy along violently. Its a beast.
their gig at the RFH
was awesome. Possibly gig of the year for me, but then they always put others to shame.
aye
so much good stuff on 4AD. Even their also-rans like Scheer were most enjoyable!
I do
hope theyll reschedule the Black Devil instore soon!
I
have an interview here on Friday! :os
It really is
And we can only hope. I have more faith in this band than most others.

Summer is here
This album is awesome...lots of good italo-stuff (early + revival) over at Samurai FM
Nice review
I'm not so sure theres much point in worrying about the "decline" you talk about, but I do agree there's lots of interesting stuff happening with these sorts of influences. Its a really good record too.
Fingerbanging in a KFC parking lot in New Jersey
808 State sounded massive and got the crowd moving more than any other act that weekend. I thought the Atlas Sound was brilliant too. He has a wonderful voice and somehow made an appropriate setting for the grey weather..
This was the best day by far
Devo, Robert Hood and Model 500 were incredible, I got on stage for the end of Holy Fuck and I met the woman of my dreams. Awesome.
Boris
were absolutely stunning. I have one of Dr Octagons pornos too! Time to check it out I think.
DJ Kentaro
is pretty phat if you like scratch-heavy stuff
^ lol
way to cite precedent!
Re: the Camel ad
