good work Luke
Brilliant, a news item and comments thread summing up exactly the heights Drowned In Sound has now reached. This para in particular is so beautifully constructed, it's worth repeating:
"The fourth plinth, which had previously held host to works of art and sculptures over the previous few years has recently been vacated by the multicoloured glass structure that was there previously, and has been left for performers - if you can call them that - to use, however they see fit within reason, for an hour each."
Meanwhile Fiddygent's well-fought campaign to destroy Chris T-T is worthy of consideration as a cipher for the universal frustration of the modern music fan, faced with someone they really, really don't like. And a good fat joke as well, cleverly referencing current affairs.
Of course T-T, former 'friend' of DiS, best known here for an entry in his blog rather than any of his music, was total fucking shite standing 10 metres above Trafalgar Square.
and if McCain wins
we get a Vice President who is 100% anti-abortion, pro marriage, anti gay marriage and believes that Creationism should be taught in schools as fact.
An utter fucktard, in other words.
it would be great if
his name really was "Christ T-T", awesome.
Chris T-T is his real name (just the surname shortened to initials) so it's not a stagename. I think he wasn't bothered about the initials 'KK', except it meant he didn't know who the writer was - because he was reading Luke's post (which didn't publish the writers' full names), not the original review.
funny
don't you post that exact comment every single time his name is mentioned anywhere?
apparently
Chris didn't read the single review itself, he read Luke Leighfield's re-posting of it elsewhere, which included the initials but not the full writer names. Once he found out what 'KK' stands for, he posted that as a comment at the bottom of the blog.

great music is heroin without the bad bits.
^^
oh Daniel.
well
good for you, that your driven to tell us all what you don't like, and you prefer things generic than not to your taste. I wish there were more like you on here.
strange
I think i t's weird you get angry about a decent unusual songwriter instead of one of the 1000s of inane crappy twats out there who have NOTHING to say and sound the same. Get some perspective, even if tt writes songs you don't agree with, in a style you don't like, why get upset about it? And if your just offended by politics or a bit of treehugging, you could admit that's your problem and criticise more honestly.
funny,
he speaks very highly of you.
.
sorry Flack, I just keep posting nasties before I can stop myself, and there's no 'delete own post' option.
cheated
Flack, you might as well have just typed here: "Hi, I'm not very clever."
class
brilliant. the entrenched position of ignorance as a conduit to more pure judgement. kind of like george w. bush's approach to the middle east.
yup
agreed, this is a fucking bloody great record, & I got it on vinyl as well, sounds amazing. when you have to stop and turn it over it's loads better than just hearing the album all the way thru.
creepers, where dya get those peepers?
soz mike, reading back it's harsher than when I was typing it, in archetypal internet fashion.
available for kid's parties etc.
utter prick
to give fuses 4/10 but neil's children 7/10. you're damned as a cloth-eared hype whore for life, mate.
Honest to god piss-poor writing as well - 'turd' but then 'there's nothing too much wrong with' it?
Worse, there's definitely something personal going on, which makes this bitter review dishonest.
You know what, I'm sick to death of this sub-nme shit in Drowned In Sound now, where you can't read a review of a smaller non-hype act without wondering if some prissy hack got its heart broke by the keyboard player. It's really past the time to hire some actual writers.
given the continual dross
that gets 8 on here, it's a pity something as subtle and clever as this only got 6. also, he did the whole score for donnie darko and some other films, including orchestral stuff for hollywood, which is exactly the kind of 'expanded discpline' most pop songwriters couldn't get near in a million years.
c'mon dombo
this is so word-for-word the same headline as the press release, you should be hanging your head, lad.

'Common People'
was surely the best protest song of the 90s bar none? I love 'Running The World' and it's nothing new from the Cock.
I like PETA
Essentially PetaMurders argues that celebrities shouldn't be challenged about anything... Surely comp-winners shouldn't lose the right to freedom of speech, just because they're with somebody famous!?
I like PETA, they have courage and conviction, plus they're funny. I don't think they're terrorists, just campaigners.
150 years ago people like PetaMurders and spadger_spotter were fighting to keep slavery and arguing that black people were only two-thirds of a person.
nice.
yup, you're the only fuckin one.
how 'indie' art thou?
Aren't Nizlopi actually a lot more genuinely underground than most of the 'indie' stuff (on majors or subsidised) followed/championed here?
They've been on the grassroots acoustic circuit and even doing house gigs for years, right?
