ELECTRELANE

?

post rock makes me lol

roast pock lakes me mol

nice article Alan

more like this pls DiS!

as little

as I care for the music of the Workshop, that's really shitty. It shows the editor of a site has no respect in the individual judgement of reviewers. On God Is In The TV, noob reviewers are free to give laughable albums 5 stars, but that's fine because it generates discussion and keeps things lively. I know I'd feel undermined if points were being shaved off ratings I gave just because they didn't fit the editoral 'line' of a site.

this is true

actual fact.

When

I read this review an hour ago the score was 8/10... what gives?

Don't rate this band in the least. It's plodding, affected 80s artifice and not a note of it fools me for a second.

the drone-rock dullards

bored me senseless
If poogazing were a genre
that is these

pfff

God this band are fucking dull.

ah haha

I know the Ginger Bread Men. They were local to Muswell Hill/Friern Barnet where I used to live. Utterly, indefensibly shit. They were one of the main bands that bought into the Archway Tavern's criminally dumb 'Monopoly' scheme. Clearly they'll swallow any old crap.

jeez

I didn't realise this band looked so twattish. Used to quite like them I think.

^ this

can't see the appeal. This band are fuck dull.

you want to hear it

you know you do

well

they're a shit band, but know lots of people, and their record company know lots of people. Some of whom probably work for DiS.

anyone wants

Copies of PSB#7, PM me!

I

wouldn't begrudge Sonic Youth for taking the opportunity to earn some money. They deserve it.

But I won't be at these gigs.

good

they were shit and I'm glad they're gone ;-)

Ross Kemp?

.

jesus

This sounds like one of those pathetic UKbands.net things. "Win the chance to spank-off in front of thousands of industry heads at an exclusive showcase".

The cream of the UK’S independent talent indeed.

what...

Who are these idiots? I thought this post would be about Underground Railroad.

this

In Time Out like a month ago.

I say let him do it.

Saw them at ATP

How they got on the bill is a mystery...

... for they are indeed pony.

Way

ahead of you. I rated these guys a solid '0' when I'd only heard them through UKbands.net

Just abominable.

wept

Jesus fuck this band are awful. They're like Keane without the... actually how are this band not Keane?

They're like Keane without the fat fucking face.

So this song

is gash isn't it?

Strongly disagree

Placebo are and always were a deeply silly and pointless band. Cheesy, obvious music intoned by a whiney goblin singing about taking too much cough remedy and wearing dresses.

I think

It's because Radiohead's importance is SO overstated, and their die-hard fans so humourless.
It's like the Manic Street Preachers all over again.

Oeuvre

If you roll-over that ad you get 'Easy Lover' by Phil Collins blared obnoxiously into your face. This song is easily better than anything in Radiohead's dreary ouvere.

I thought

Desperado were english. And awful.

well

if anyone wants to distribute this in France... or anywhere!
Otherwise Lyle or anyone who wants a copy please drop us a line through myspace or our proper website and we'll send you one.

Heard them

on the Gringo sampler. Are good.

a

spokeswoman for Banksy said:
"I don't like to speak on his behalf"

Banksy- who really gives a shit anymore?

Isn't there

actually a band called 'Sunny Day Sets Fire'? Which is two emo band names rolled into one.

They must have used this:
http://members.aol.com/Valdes379/EmoGame.html

which one

is Erlend Oye on?

I was at that gig

Who the hell are Alfie?

JJ72: not a very good band, but I remember quite liking 'Algeria' at the time. I also thought it was brave of them to admit to being influenced by The Smashing Pumpkins at a time when that was deeply, deeply uncool.
Perhaps it still is?

agreed

Half the times I saw him he was aggressive and threatening.

Get cape. Wear cape. Fuckoff!

Electrelane

Were actually very good. To berate them for the lack of a 'show' is kind of missing the point, although I think they did gear their set somewhat towards a festival audience: guitar heavy, no lovely accordians. Verity's voice took almost half the gig to get warmed-up though, perhaps explained by their six-month live absence.

Dungen are indeed overrated. Hairy swedes playing zep riffs does not an interesting band make. Highlights for me were Dinosaur Jr, a sludge-rock Sleater Kinney, The Boredoms, Mission of Burma, Magik Markers and naturally The Gossip.

Bunch of wankers

Should grow a clue.

Sonic Youth: new record

In my opinion, not liking Sonic Youth is like being plain wrong about music.

Bright Eyes O-burst back with live LP

The Biggest Lie is an Elliott Smith cover. There was I hoping it was the Husker Du song. Now that would be interesting.

America unites for ATP '06

This is truly a great day. The Shins and YYYs do suck something rotten though. Now... Sleater Kinney or Mudhoney...?

Didz does Libs: former Cooper joins Carl in new band

Wankbiscuit will doubtless sound as limp and pedestrian as the Libs and TCTC, but then anyone who slates Comet Gain is a jerk in my book.

The Sailplanes - Season of False Dawns

Thanks for the review Holl(i)y. Rest assured we're not the kind of band to settle for anything.

Memphis Industries sign The Pipettes

Nice fucking gimmick. clap clap clap

Ryan cancels remaining UK dates

He's just a budget Westerberg though, isn't he.

Londoners! Come get discovered and helped

"Razorlight, Keane, Apartment and Rooster" arrrrghhahahahahahaha!

The Sailplanes - Swoosh

Thanks for the review Matthew, really positive stuff for our first ever recording- £50 worth, recorded and mixed in one day to add to the mythology. For those who're interested, Swoosh in it's entirety is downloadable from our site:

And we shall be coming a venue near you soon.

Anyone Ocean Colour Scene our mastertapes? OCS lose early recordings

"Oasis seem to be applauded for the same traits" - hang on there, Oasis haven't been applauded for anything publicly since 1997, and round my way they'd only achieve muted handclaps if they set themselves aflame whilst doing the polka.
Britpop was a terrible era for music. A creative drought based on reviving ideas alreadly stale by the end of the sixties, which is probably best forgotten. OCS managed to be the worst of a dire bunch: Kula Shaker, Reef, Shit Seven, Blur, Cast.
Hope someone dumped their tapes in a canal.
