The 10 Bands You MUST See This Weekend at Reading/Leeds

no. fiery furnaces were probably the best band there.

Rap with a capital C: 50 Cent gets bottled off

i havent heard any lyrics suggesting 50 cent has raped 12 women, and if there is one then its clearly not true. i was busy seeing auf de maur for the start of his set but bottling was highly annoyed that i didnt get to see him at all. people need to open their eyes a little, and i think its great that the organisers are trying to broaden their appeal.

all in all though, disappointing. too many not so good performances, although the fiery furnaces did kinda save the day

Dashboard Confessional - Vindicated

just been to see dashboard tonight. im not a girl, and i dont normally dig emo, but what a fucking gig.

Re: Comets On Fire - Blue Cathedral

they seem to think that english music is either radiohead, trying to be radiohead, or utter shit. to deny showbiz and asleep in the back, two of the best albums released in the last 5 years, decent marks just shows how badly they get it wrong.

oh and if you thought the relationship of command review was pretentious, try reading heathen chemistry. no.

You good, good people: Embrace save V

embrace are really great

Comets On Fire - Blue Cathedral

pitchfork suck. they need to take their heads out of their arses and actually write about music

go DiS. another quality review.

Re: Keane - Keane get real

was the first paragraph of this article laden with deep irony? i genuinely can't tell..

Re: The Shins - Fighting In A Sack

im sorry people, but i second that..

Modest Mouse - Only the squeak survive

im so glad modest mouse are finally getting the airplay they deserve

The Vines pull festival dates. Bothered

i dont like a single song on highly evolved. its shit.

Hope of the States - The Lost Riots

as do i. i think it gives the music great texture...

Hopes And Jeers: A Keane Fan Speaks Out

Keane would be so proud of the hate they inspire. and the funny thing is.. their music is so harmless!!

i thought the lil biography thing was great, playing on the categorisation of music tastes and types of people.

but why get so worked up? if half of you took your heads out of your arses and stopped thinking so damn hard about what you listen to you'd get so much more enjoyment out of music.

The Streets - A Grand Don't Come For Free

Does anyone else think The Streets wouldnt get as much success if he wasn't white and english..? is he really that different from a lot of hip hop? it just scares me the way that so many so called "rock" fans will be happy to trasngress music genres into white artists like Eminem and The Streets... but yet denounce the rest of the genre as crap.
To me, it seems music is still somewhat racially segregated...

Re: Mew: The Saviours Of Jazzballet

i thought frengers was a great title.. not quite friends but not quite strangers... hm well maybe not...

Sonic Youth - Nurse

ah this sounds good.. im still waiting for a sonic youth album to come close to the quality of daydream nation..

Re: Somewhere Only We Moan: Why I Hate Keane

thats plagerism. thoms the man. *calls thoms lawyer*

the irony is the *new garage* scene is actually just retro.. looking back not forward for ideas.

coldplay snow patrol and keane are harmless and dont want to be anything more. give them a break.

Re: Somewhere Only We Moan: Why I Hate Keane

is it not the idea of these message boards to discuss what has been written...? sorry mate i lost your point

"the point is you shouldnt even bother reading these articles if your opinions are really what you say they are"

but um... didnt you just advocate different ppl expressing opinions...? we're only doing the same... im sticking up for a band i like :)

Somewhere Only We Moan: Why I Hate Keane

Neil i dunno if youve looked at the lyrics to somewhere only we know... but theres not one single suggestion that theyre moaning... at all. snivelling snobbling... what...? at last we have a band with a singer who can actually sing and now theyre getting knocked?

sure, i hate lazy categorizations. why is it that everytime a singer sings at a certain pitch they have to be dubbed as depressing. if you want to have a dig at the current music scene, theres a whole host of shitty retro bands queuing up to be shitted on but yet that this, and so many other sites seem intent on worshipping. what worries me far more is what the darkness and kings of leon have done for british music. i welcome ok computer spin offs with open arms. if youre gonna copy someone, it may as well be the best.

as far as im concerned, somewhere only we know is the best song which has had any major success this year.

Re: The Beta Band - Heroes To Zeroes

*shuts up and buys the record*

Morrissey - Irish Blood, English Heart

i love this song.. but um...is morrisey racist? i heard somewhere he was and never found out more...

Re: The Beta Band - Heroes To Zeroes

clearly the best beta band album.... well you're clearly wrong... err.. have you ever heard the 3 e.p's...?

Joy Zipper - American Whip

what? no that was a well written review. and i stand by the fact that there needs to be more slagging off from DiS. And bands should just give up on trying to recreate loveless - it was great for its time but id like to think music has moved on somewhat since 1991. we are now, after all, in a post kid a age...

Interpol To Return This Year

shins or the stills? im going to see both next week!!

Ash - Meltdown

*yawns*

Re: Ash - Meltdown

sorry but i have to disagree completely.. all those songs you listed make me cringe.. at least submission and shark have bite.. but and album with something like candy on it is just yuck

Ash - Meltdown

oh, and girls aloud rule.. anyone who says different is just trying too hard

Ash - Meltdown

1977 is actually the only decent album ash have done... do any ash fans actually like free all angels...?that is pain.

Ash - Meltdown

Does DiS ever give anything a bad review..?

Ash - Meltdown

are ash playing reading this year too? i have tickets but i really not liking the line-up...

The Shins - Young Pilgrims

young pilrgims on the way to... mcdonalds? i like it
