terrible headline

making light of child abuse allegations, really?

no no no no no

brilliant album. haven't read the review, although i def will when i have time. but just thought i'd add my two cents that this is a superb record. :)

never fear...

he's definitely playing. lineup isn't complete listing yet. :)

it's streaming

on nme.com media player now. i love this man

post war years

= so so so good. better than cold war kids.

thanku for mentioning tv on the radio's mr grieves cover. somehow that managed to pass me by, just downloaded it and its bloody awesome! awesome band

that's a very

shakespear's sister cover there

i heart

The Electric Soft Parade. i completely disagree, they are awesome live. the human body EP is a particularly amazing piece of work, can't wait for this new album!

i didn't really like the just cover

but this, love it, love it!

hopefully

going to bright eyes tho on fri. ru a warwick student at all?

f*ck art let's dance

i wanted to go to that quite badly. alas i am going home to surrey to do an essay away from next door's builders.

..

i really liked this EP, but each to his own, review's well-written. be boring if everyone liked the same thing, as my mum likes to say

timmyL-

exact same thing happened to me buying tix for ryan. i saw him once before those tho- shepherd's bush, and he played for a good 3 hours, on top form. missed out on victoria gig coz our internet was down when it was announced and went on sale- was NOT impressed to find out a tour was on and had sold out. VERY VERY excited about these new dates :)

mrdxk- u post on the .org? crawling to newcastle on ur tongue is something ive read before recently lol. it does bear repeating tho- ryan's worth it!

....

CHRIS MCMATH, u know it makes sense :)

....

Enjoyed this piece but can someone please check the articles more carefully in future? There are typos, numerous grammatical errors and missed capital letters. Just distracts from the quality of the writing. X

Interpol - C'Mere

ARE YOU SERIOUS?! They were amazing at Brixton, what gig were you at? we were all dancing, singing along, having a great time. They sounded really great. shocked. :(

Tom McRae Requires Your Maps

he gone to usa. building up a fanbase over in the sunshine.

this is gonna be an ace album. most of the songs are hanging around the net as live versions. can't wait to hear how the studio versions sound. comes out the same day as the new ryan adams and the cardinals double lp. how exciting!!

British Sea Power - Open Season

wow controversy. can't be doing with this bsp hating. i love this album, it's been pretty much on repeat on my stereo or ipod since i got it over a month ago.

it's brilliant. and i would put a decent argument as to why it is brilliant but it;s 1 am and my brain is all mushed from seeing the mighty interpol tonight. that is a whole other story and i hope to see a review of tonight v soon on dis.

agreed that fonda 500 are certainly something a little different tho. saw them live a couple of years ago and never laughed so hard at a gig. very entertaining if a little devoid of melody that night.

anyway, just adding my weight to the side of the bsp lovers here.

btw, i've read many other reviews that make reference to yan's bowie-esque voice. it's pretty obvious. innit?

Ryan Adams to release three albums in 2005

couldn't agree more paulie, i think i love him more than life itself. CANNOT WAIT!!!!!!

Tom McRae

now this tour is over, he's mixing the album which should be out in late spring i would guess. then expect another tour to promote it. the website is really great and up-to-date so check it out!

The Rakes - Strasbourg

oh dear, they were awful on lovejoy's show. on record, 4/5. needs some work live.

Babyshambles to tour. Really.

i think the thing that attracts people to the libertines, at least what i think attracted me, is the potential there.

they have not 1, but 2, charismatic frontmen who have this strange sorta schoolboy/drug buddy/creative partnership relationship with mysterious homo-erotic undertones. already you have something a little different.

there is their obsession with english culture and the celebrating of the albion, an england which no longer even exists anymore. the lyrics are colloquial, tell of everyday life and personal experiences, a la the kinks, although with not quite the same flair as the legendary ray davies.

you have the excitement of the music, the rough-edged production, miscontrued by some as laziness and/or inexperience on the part of mick jones. there is the atmosphere of spontaneity and the frenetic, energetic rhythms off something about to go off the rails.

before pete's enforced leave of absence there was this feeling that, if only he could ditch the drugs, an equilibrium in the band could be restored and they could bring all the potential they have together in the right time and place and create something amazing, a record to take to the heart, that would create a massive impact and silence the doubters.

that they haven't managed this just means they are squandering the potential they have, or pete is. but there is a hope that it could still happen. maybe.

on some occasions it looks hopeless and you despair that perhaps they lost their chance and they have already put out their best work, with all its flaws. but that potential keeps you hoping.

Kasabian - Kasabian

the recent single is pretty poor but i enjoyed club foot. won't buy the album, not really interested and they sound like idiots.

but really, does whatever you think of the quality of the album warrant such a harsh comment as that just above from themurdermystery?

never. end of.

Mobos: not homophobic, but are they racist?

i think the argument about the q awards or nme or kerrang being the "white" equivalent of the mobos is not entirely accurate. i mean, those awards go by the tastes of the readers and writers in that particular year and while the taste in normally for skinny white boy indie/rock, it does not preclude any particular genre, race or sex from being nominated or winning any award. there are no terms or conditions whereby black people and music is excluded.

the mobos is only open to those who are deemed to make music of "black" origin. while it's fair to have an awards ceremony for a particular genre (like there are classical and jazz awards), it seems perverse to be referring to it as a black award ceremony.

and if the term urban has been tainted, perhaps it is time for a new "buzz-word" to encompass the genres deemed of "black" origin- eg. blues, rnb (rhythm and blues), rnb (modern rhythm and bass), dancehall, reggae, rap, hip-hop, ska, etc., or an acronym like Mobos, that at least does not refer to race.

sorry if i've reiterated all points above but wanted to get my thoughts in. holly X

Death Cab For Cutie - The Sound Of Settling

can't believe the hype over styrofoam plates. love the photo album, but that song is one i skip almost every time. the brilliance of i was a kaleidoscope just completely eclipses styrofoam plates which follows it. it could only ever be disappointing following that tune.

Kings of Convenience - I'd Rather Dance With You, Than Talk With You

laughed out loud when i read that! just the thought of erlend as an "indie stud", or a playa. too funny.

Kings of Convenience - Misread

actually, the lead vocals and almost all instruments on this single are by eirik glambek boe, the other guy, not erlend.

but agreed that it's a great song. X
