Are you secretly
Mr Brooks?
On here trying to find out what these new fangled 'shout outs' are?
Just for you, there are ways for socially inept twats to get their name mentioned on national radio, in an effort to appear somehow 'cool' by having an old codger 'DJ' (cue Pete Tong or Dave Pearce) read out that you are having a 'wicked weekend'; when in reality you're sitting have a wank in the bath with Radio 1 on in the background.
Crikey
Imagine squeezing out an 18-year old at any age... never mind 75.
They must be as wide as the Clyde, as the saying goes up here :-)
If it's true,
then possibly.
However. Unspecified members 'ill', drummers getting run over by crazed hit and runners, whilst still being able to fly home, all sounds a bit much.
I'm sure they'll be back for their headline tour though, so don't worry kids.
Ha!
What goes around comes around.
At last night's Glasgow gig, Young Knives seemed to insinuate that Vampire Weekend cancelled Manchester and Glasgow, not through illness as claimed.
They hinted that it's possible that 'some bands', and of course didn't name any in particular, tend to cancel support slots when the aforementioned support act become as big as the headline act.
Not that they were suggesting anything untoward, but y'know, kinda makes sense if you ask me.
Haha I noticed that too.
Were DiS responsible for Parva too?
I was surprised
that it took me a lot of scrolling to reach someone else who used Hype Machine.
I really haven't found a need to use anything else since finding it.
Serives like Pandora, Last.fm, and iLike could also become much more applicable to new artists.
Giving their own music metatags comparing them to particular styles or other artists will allow people who like faeces, for example, to find Mika.
I quite like this
mainly as it's a slight deviation from the norm for Bloc Party, and it's not like an album track or anything major that would sound out of sorts.
If it were on Silent Alarm or Weekend in the City, I'd hate it. But it's not, so I accept it for what it is.
Don't wish to enter a flame war, but a lot of people on DiS really need to lighten up with respect to the fact that some people, shock horror, will actually like some of the music put on a mainstream radio playlist.
Granted, most of it is tosh, and the few songs anyone does remotely find bearable, Radio 1 play them to death till you want to plug your ears with your own self-extracted teeth.
I can't believe...
you haven't included The Twang... I'm well pissed off now, and on a Friday of all days.
Gotta love sarcasm
But seriously, the second album was shockingly bad.
In fact, Hounds of Love was a great cover, but it was downhill ever since.
This is alright
but the album isn't a patch on the last one, and I find that the 'samey' style of most songs irritates after a while - especially the extremely annoying keyboard player who always looks completely full of false excitement on stage.
Well...
... he can't really defend himself now, can he?
Good review
TPD are alright, but that's about all I can say about them. And there's so many bands around at the moment where I feel the exact same.
Yawn.
New Rave...
doesn't even exist. It's a non-entity manufactured by NME to make Klaxons seem new and whizzy.
I'm don't particularly mind Klaxons, or NYPC for that matter, but I'm sick of the new rave/nu rave fabrication.
I've always
been lead to believe that the fratellis are from paisley
Chick Fit?
Sounds like some sort of Bird Flu epidemic.
I think that Zane
gets a shit deal. He's not as bad as people make out.
I met him in Ibiza for Ibiza Rocks and he was a nice guy, and seemed passionate about what he was doing.
I know some people don't like him, but each to their own :-)
I thought this was a mis-spell
I thought it was talking about Battle, without the 's'.
I'm a big fan of Klaxons
But I feel the album is rather overproduced compared to some of the early stuff I have.
Not to say I don't like it, I've still to have a 'proper' listen, and to me a proper listen is lying in my bed with my 'phones in at night :-)
Golden Skans in particular, is a LOT more mellow on record than from early demos and when heard live.
If they had just retained the original drum machine, and increased the speed slightly, I would have been over the moon.
Who am I kidding.... I sitll fecking love it!
JT?
For a minute there I was thinking you were talking about Justin Trousersnake and was highly confused.
I didn't realise
HMV have an alcohol license! This could be a good shout.
If they started dishing out booze I might be drunk enough to pay their extortionate prices.
Probably not, but hey.
Cool
You made me dig out TVOTR and I quite like
They're hyped to the hilt
but are essentially just loud noisy shit.
Plus, I don't hear any rave influences whatsoever. At least with Klaxons style 'nu rave' you can actually HEAR some rave-ish sounds.
When I listen to this song...
I can't get Brimful of Asha out of my head.
Not quite sure why... maybe Cornershop have a claim?
Try as I might
As I few female friends like em; I can't get into The Pippetes (sound like the Sheila's Wheels ad). Although I realise you weren't tipping them :-)
I agree
Radio 1 are to blame for me hating a lot of bands I used to like.
Pity there is little alternative to Radio 1. Commercial radio sucks just as bad in Glasgow (and most other regions).
What I love about Muse
is that they don't just stick to one style.
For years they were badged as Radiohead wannabees, and possibly quite rightly so going by their early work.
Their last two and a half albums have been class.
Ok I'm a bad boy
as I generally download music from... wherever... and if I like it - I buy it on CD, and if I don't like it I don't buy it.
I like to support the artists I like, and no harm done to the ones I don't as I wouldn't have bought it anyway.
I only use CDs in the car, I used to have an MP3 stereo in the car, but navigation of the discs was crap.
I quite like the American Napster model where you can listen to ANY track up to three times, after which you must buy it to listen to it again. It's a very good idea for digital music.
I like em cos
they don't take themselves too seriously, which is refreshing in the argy bargy NME fuelled world!
oops
helps if I spell 'supreme' properly. It's too early for this.
I love the album
and this is one of my favourite tracks on it.
For god sake woman, I'd listen to it for the 'hilarious' line you quote alone.
"I'm your monarch you're suprememe monarch"
When did this....
turn into the Heat discussion forums? ;-)

have they...
actually listened to their last album?
The first one was amusing at the time, but why is it that all those acts who 'exploded' onto the scene in 2005 have ended up as utter tripe merchants?
