I totally agree. What was with the dancers in the plastic macs? They were all over the place and even made their best songs sound dull...
Me too
for the same reasons. Can we start more Nick Cave threads please?
I just rang rough trade
The band haven't cancelled so far - they suggest you ring tomorrow to check: 0207 3927788! Peasy.
I agree
I loved the mess of black goo that would cover your shoes and lower limbs on a night out. And the fact that I could walk/stagger home afterwards.
oooh get you!
Chris TT is still rubbish though.
My apologies
I can be very cynical at times.
^^
Are you being facetious, it's so difficult to tell.
I think
Fiddygent's question was the best.
Sigh...
We were exaggerating for effect. Of course he didn't ruin Truck, I just fail to see any merit in his music. There is a place for polemicism in music, I just think that if Chris TT could do it a lot better and be less odious, people might be more willing ot listen to his lyrics. He irritated me a lot at Truck, and yes I could have gone elswhere, but he was on the main stage and I had a comfy seat on the grass :)It does seem, however, that all his supporters seem to be singularly lacking a sense of humour and resenting of a discussion on a frickin' discussion board. Ho hum.
Ha ha
Did i say that? I don't think so. Not liking Chris TT means I like things "generic"? Christt!
Is it?
But I think Chris TT, to use your own phrase, is a crappy twat. I don't think he's a decent songwriter, though he perhaps could be called "unusual". He's distressed me greatly every time i've had the misfortune to hear him live, which gives me MY perspective. Gosh! Drowned in Sound members in musical disagreement shocker!
Wisdom is an idiot?
I'm glad I'm not alone in thinking Chris TT's songs are carbuncles on the arse of music. Also, his website is christt.com, which suggests a slight jesus complex, and bothers me more than it probably should.
Anyone else
think Mike Diver has misjudged the mood of the posters somewhat? Being told to "chill out" makes my blood boil. As I said previously, I'm pleased he had a good day, I'm pleased if anyone did. Doesn't stop those of us who didn't wanting to vent our disappointment and perhaps have our concerns acknowledged and taken seriously. That's why, three days after the event, i haven't chilled out.
I've just made another complaint
because I resent the self congratulating atttitude of Tom Baker and his opinion that choosing great bands is the main element when organising a great festival and this makes up for pissing in public and queuing for the better part of a hot day. Clearly some people had a worse time than others, but to gloss over the fundamental issues that people have with "teething problems" is just insulting. The fact that it was "really good" backstage also rankles. I'm glad Mike Diver had a good day, in fact I'm pleased that some people did. I didn't. Nor did my friends. I genuinely hope they do learn from this year's mistakes, but it doesn't stop some punters from this year feeling cheated.

I guess there are just some things
that make you so mad, you just can't let them go, and Chris TT's Truck 2007 performance is one of them. It still makes me mad!! Given that this is one of the only forums where Chris TT's work is discussed, then you have to expect people putting forward their two penneth even if, shock, horror it is contentious. Oh look, here I am again as well! (Pops back in shell).
