I also would have given it a 7 or 8
This is an example of one reviewers opinion, which is wrong.
When she was with Tim Armstrong her stuff was like Rancid
Now shes with Josh its like QOTSA.
Go figure!
When they played Brum's Barfly Falco seemed mega pissed off
Really in a bad mood and didnt say much during the whole gig. I bet they got Carling backstage! haha.
I found this very interesting
I'll work out what the songs are about myself.
Roy’s Keen not on the reissue? WTF!
that and Alma Matters were the only two decent songs on it! :'(
I streamed it yest
Got to say it's not as good as the first album or the ep but im gonna give it another go. Cant find the download? Where is it?
ho ho, badly replied ;)
'Magic Mountain' is a cracker. It's a good return, Crooked Timber. The drumming is ace.
I listened yesterday and found it quite average
I really wanted it to be amazing like the single...
This is exactly was i was going to type earlier
^^^^^^^^^^^^^
I met Jason & Conrad after a TOD gig in Wolves
On the Source tags tour, got to say (they both were nice) but Jason is such a top guy. They were genuinely suprised i thought they were awesome. They wrecked the drum kit that night.
Those were the days!
I was disappointed by what i heard of this album
I heard the 5 track promo of this a few weeks back
I was really disappointed with how dull the songs were. I really enjoyed the kind of sleazy vibe of the last album but this album really sounds recycled and tired. I mean i'll give it another go and hear the full album of course but the songs i did hear were really boring. Uninspired. I reckon 4/10 is harsh in anyones books. it should get half marks just for being a Prodigy lp ;)
Im intrigued to hear a follow up
it's been along time. Their gig with the crocketts at the flapper & firkin (Brum) still is one of my favourite gig memories. Both bands were on fire. Losing Touch was a corker!
Seconded
The Troy Tate demos are brilliant, much better than what they used for the first lp.
Snobs is a dive but
if you like to trawl through the 60's the back room is still ok. I dunno if it's getting older or whether i am developing a fear of crowded spaces but i really get bored at clubs these days. I went to Ramshackle a few months ago, was bloody aweful.
i've written my own review of the Birmingham one at
www.theplasticashtray.co.uk/blog
I found Wooden Shjips miles more interesting than OM coincidently. :)
I've heard a live version of U2 covering
Love will tear us apart that really hurt my ears! yak
Im baffled by the whole review
I listened to this at work last week and really enjoyed it, 'Casbah' is a bit lifeless but musically its great. SHows a band near the end of their career, acheiving wider appeal. The mix is fine and i did notice some guitar mistakes but that's because The clash were human. I thought overall it's a good lp, not seminal by any means but worth a dip into if you're a clash fan.
It's a grower
Very Smith's in places. I can see what you are saying about the vocals, ithink they just sound a little bare in places but they recorded this one live with a few over dubs so it's gonna sound different.
bit sad they aren't
playing the Midlands, maybe 2009 they will again. I'm glad they keep soldiering on getting better...
Please god let me be free
for the brum date, oh please!
My god the kick
man this is really bad.
My mate at work just lent me the cd
Im listening to it now. What the fucks going on with the drums? The snare sounds like it's clipping!
I was talking to a guy the other night
Who had mixed and mastered stuff for Sony (Pearl jam, Alice in Chains, Michael jackson!) and he went bananas when i mentioned the 'loudness wars'. "It's ruining music" he said.
He's right.
...
Mastodon and Torche are playing. Say no more!!!!!!!
Not bad!
Who cares about the article, it did the trick. :)
This guy is a designer?
What a waste of his and my time!
i dunno what they are fucking moaning about
I'd never heard of this band until they managed to use a record pressing fuck up to make the drowned in sound news!
Publicity is never free ;)
makes me wish i knew how to
read music haha. they shoudl put guitar tab up for amateurs.... ;)
I was knitting a Cowboy hat
..and beard as i was typing that ;)
Yeah i was larfing as well
because "Sharp dressed man" is better!
**In your face non believer!*** ;)
Too cool...
in fact, even for school!
I really didnt like the Mystery Jets
and i heard the new single yest, the vid made me laugh. Great tune. very well written pop. All the hooks in the right place.
Prince butchered that song
And to save the embarassment of millions watching it and laughing, he wants it banned.
Purple dwarf.
Bad Midlands Promoters
Scare off bands again. :(
They played...
'Don't Take Me Home Until I'm Drunk' when i saw them on the George Best gig tour thingy. it was great. I have high hopes, Take Fountain is the only lp they have done i dont like.
Could you do me a cd copy of
Chez Chef? pleeeeeeeeeeease? ;)
Petition time
Please reissue Chez Chef ep as it rules!
It's always nice though
ay it.
Girls Aloud
Obviously should add a classy slant on it.
I really like
this single. It's like a lovely slice of Adam Ant like pop.
If you look on play.com
there's loads staggered over the next few months, those deluxe versions ithink. I found them by mistake, i also found the release date for chinese democracy!
They have a series of
remastered cds coming out too.
They'd make their money back
In other illegal activities they indulge in though.
Good band
Who deserve the support. go see em, if you have the cash.
