Good stuff!

I think Carina Round is supporting too, which is another reason to go!

Completely disagree.

This is a great album with some gorgeous songs on it and Nicole's voice is really wonderful. 'Maybe Tonight' is a lovely pop song too.

This review is unnecessarily harsh. It's not the perfect album but it's a 7 at the very least.

Not what I expected...

way too harsh a review. It's not the best album ever but it's a decent effort. I'd say about a 7 would be fair. Also I see Los Camp! mentioned in there as a comparison...to say that band get orgasmed over on here constantly, this album is a hell of a lot better than their effort.

Nice review!

This is a decent little album with some great tunes on there. Nice to hear a band just rocking out for the fun of it.

I agree with a lot of stuff in this...

It's very well written and really highlights some of the most important factors about the Manics and their popularity. I love that they've got a slightly flawed past, it makes their history all the more interesting.

Passing KYE off like that is a bit harsh though. There's some great songs on there and, while it's not the Manics at their best, it's still a better album than some other bands could ever hope to make!

Lifeblood may not be a perfect album either but I think it does deserve more credit. '1985' is one of the best Manics songs of the last few years and there's some other really nice songs on there. I think it's been quite overlooked on recent tours not because it's a poor album, but mainly because most of the songs wouldn't fit too well with the recent rockier setlists.

Nice article though, was great to read and it's always nice to see the Manics get some coverage!

Hard to say really...

I'd say it's slightly more hardcore, in places, than the last album but also they've gone a bit experimental at times aswell. Then there's a few mellow bits thrown in for good measure, so it's got a bit of variety in there. It's a solid album though and I doubt it'll disappoint anyone who's already a fan!

Bit nasty that...

but you don't see owt rude really so it's not too bad I guess! Nice to see it's got them a bit of exposure too ;)

Great band though and a corker of an album!

oops..

*Beasts

Couldn't agree more

with Grammatics. I've not heard TNP and Wild Beats but none of the other bands on the list even come close.

ooh, and...

Jon Gomm's newie should be a goodie aswell!

...

Amen
Alkaline Trio
Thrice - Alchemy Index Vols 3 & 4
Slipknot

All should be good :)

Plus Muse should be due a new one this year hopefully!

Ah...

I thought this would say that they'd released a song under the band name 'The Rascals' cos that band, well their single at least, soudns pretty much like any old Arctic Monkeys song.

Hmm...

Completely disagree with this. it's a great album, packed full of top tunes. 'Big Casino' is one of the singles of the year for me and 'Dizzy' is one of the best J.E.W. songs in a long time!

Yeah...

I'm not liking this new design at all. As soon as I saw it my brain screamed 'Pitchfork'. The layout of the previous design was brilliant, I don't know why anyone thought a redesign was in order! The reviews bit on the front page isn't as easy to digest as it was previously either. Sorry, can't say I'm a fan!

Jimmy Eat Plane?

Chase This Flight?

You don't care..

About typing properly either it seems! Sure success doesn't make an artist or band automatically good...but you can't really compare Mika, a here one minute, gone the next flavour of the week, to a band that has a career spanning over a decade and a half with 8 studio albums under their belts.

Anyway, my point wasn't about whether they're good or not, it was that people obviously do care and will always care about the Manics!

...

Oh aye, apart from Brit Awards, Number one singles, sold out tours, etc, etc. Yeah no-one cares at all! :/

I can't wait for this, I'm really interested to hear how it turns out. Should be a brilliant little addition to the December tour :)

After seeing the rating...

I was ready to make a fairly defensive comment about this album but the review makes some valid points that I do agree with. I think it'd have been useful for them to have not produced this theirselves as a proper Producer might have made it a bit of a more focused record.

That said though I think the rating is a bit harsh. For me it's a 7/10.

...

'The Black and White Album'...I like it!

Yeesh...

Denied entry just because she kicked a snapper? Bit harsh that!

I can't help but like Lily Allen...she irritated the hell out of me at first but I've warmed to her a lot.

...

I love this EP. Every song on it is brill. I'd have given it maybe 8 or 9/10.

urgh...

I heard his latest single more than once today on Radio 1 (it was on at work) and it's just so utterly shite. It's like a mentally challenged lovechild of the Coral and Ordinary Boys.

Pretty harsh review...

Although I guess if you're not that fussed about the Hives anyway, any new material isn't really going to change that seen as they stick to what they know and they do it brilliantly. The last Hives album was by far their strongest and from that evidence I can only see them getting better...however, I've not heard any new stuff yet so maybe it'll bomb..but I doubt that. Lets just hope that terrible Timbaland collaboration doesn't make the new album!

They were

terrible supporting the Manics. Every song sounded the same and it got boring really quickly. To me they're on a par with Hard-Fi for cringeworthy lyrics and the music is equally dull.

Bit harsh this...

I think it's a really decent song. The vocals don't sit too well with me, they could have been mixed a bit better but otherwise it's a rocking tune! Might not be the Pumpkins as we know and love 'em but it's a good listen.

Can't wait...

Never seen these lot live so I ain't going to miss them this time! Wahoo.

hmm...

I'd have much rather seen a picture of KT Tunstall being kissed on a beach by a woman.

.

wahoo, finally! this is gonna be bloody brilliant!

Sorry but...

What's the point of this diary thing? there's just very little worth reading in there, hardly anything on the bands and it sounds like the writer should have stayed home and watched the highlights on Channel 4 after a late-night Hollyoaks special instead of being out at the festival!

I haven't heard the full song

but that itunes advert makes me want to headbutt the tv. What I've heard of this song is really dire.

I've not heard this album

but this review really tickled me. I might have to listen to it now to see just how bad it is!

I really

really really really really hate this band.

I saw them at Download...they're just awful. All that rave stuff is a gimmick that will hopefully get boring soon for all the kiddies.

those pigeon puns...

are really coo-l.

Didn't think much to these at first

But now I've done a bit of a 180 after giving their album another listen. Once you get used to the bloke's voice there's some really good rocking tunes on there. They remind me a bit of Amen, which is no bad thing at all! I'm definitely going to be watching out for them at Download.

...

I do like this song. It's very catchy. Shame the rest of the album's a bit pants really.

...

fantastic single. bang on review!

I think...

There's an Arctic Monkeys live session on Radio 1 soon. The morning show bloke was creaming himself over it on today's show.

So that's definitely proof of crap music being played on Radio 1.

hmm...

no. this is a really decent song. ok the lyrics aren't fantastic and it's not their best effort by far but it's a nice little tune to rock out to. 2/10 is a harsh rating, bordering on laughable really...it's worth at least a 6.
