The day trippers...
...or whatever more offensive name you want to give them really pissed me off. Too many people with little/no interest in the music, and instead talking all the way through. I'm no uberfan, but I didn't feel the need to talk all the way through the songs that I didn't know!
Being the badfan that I am, I am glad I went to Wednesday rather than Tuesday; it was quite nice to hear the hits.
I don't get
the Miss Black America reference. I wouldn't say they were particularly similar to MBICR!
But I entirely agree. It is a horrible horrible lyric.
I love this album...
...I have been listening to it pretty much non-stop since I bought it. Oh yes.
Really...why?
I understand that Shifty need to make money, and this is sure to be a big cash cow (by their standards anyway), but why? When 'Voices...' came out, pretty much every HMV in the land had massive stocks of '...Are dead' selling cheap, so I would've thought that anyone that really wanted a copy got it then.
On a side note, I am the only person that prefers '...Are Dead' to the newer album?
I have never quite understood
why people are so against the barfly in Cambridge.
Yes, gig prices are likely to go up a bit, but if we get better bands, I don't mind. It will create some competition with the Soultree, and should mean more good bands playing in the city.
I understand that small local bands will not now be able to play there, but surely they can get gigs at the Portland and the Man on the Moon anyway? Decent local(ish) bands like Ten City Nation I would imagine would be able to get a gig at the Barfly.
No it wouldn't
I live next door and can tell I'm going to get extremely pissed off with the students pouring out after 12 every night pissed up and loud. *old man at 23*.
Not that it's going to stop me going to see Bearsuit, or Blood Red Shoes, or Youthmovies, mind.
i went
wasn't sure about Scanners, didn't really float my boat. Enjoyed The Blood Arm; I'd not seen them live before, and perhaps expected a bit more anarchy (given the reputation they have), but it was still a good lively performance.
My friends didn't like it though. They are miserable b*stards.
but in better news...
...the album cover looks quite cool. Or is that just me?
yes it is prices
the nature of the beast is that online retailers can charge less than shops. HMV have to lower prices online in order to compete with other online businesses, where there are no shop overheads and no shop staff to pay. So they look a bit silly for charging more in their stores; but if they didn't, the shops wouldn't be financially viable, and would have to close down anyway. It's a vicious circle.
But surely
the good thing about DiS is that people do express opinions, rather than just stating facts. I read the website because I'm interested in the opinions.
And I'm certainly glad that Alex felt he could slag them off, despite a lot of people at DiS clearly liking them. And I'm glad that DiS printed it.
presumably
that'll just be dive dive then? or do they plan to bring back the old drummer?
it answers the question...
...in so much as it explains why they aren't referenced in this article.
But there does seems something of an absence of recognition for the band from this website.
And I think ^ means 'I agree' or something like that. These trendy new kids eh what can you do.
that's really annoying
but i can kind of see why they've done it.
I don't know if you're allowed to tell me this, but i'll ask anyway; are they doing as in previous years with mantinee performances and then a break between that and all of the smaller venues opening in the evening?
Wish I'd taken more than a half day off work now...
the website...
...doesn't seem to say which bands are playing what venue at what time.
Are they persisting with the system where you only find that out when you pick up your wristband? That really pissed me off when I went 2 years ago as I want to know who's playing when so I can work out what time I need to get to London for.

why is it funny?
must admit that i didn't understand the chris tt vs Scouting For Girls comparison either. They are completely different. As are SFG and GCWCF. All kk did was pick three artists he didn't like and lump them together, then made a 'funny' comment about them.
