Her Name Is Calla
this weekend I went from 'fond of' to 'absolutely convinced they are among the best things ever'. De Montfort Hall was built for them. Which you have to admit was impressive foresight on behalf of the architects.
Still. Wow.
two things
1) nobody in Leicester sounds like they come from the same city as Tom Meighan
2) this turd came from the same band that made me think perhaps they were ok cause over 50% of their debut was actually pretty good.
The Deer Tracks
are wonderful.
i like
the artwork, and i like 'Unfinished Business' so I'm going to investigate, ok?
This Is Your Life
deserves a mention for being the best song that I can think of that my dad will listen to at the minute.
right, just to be clear, In Ghost Colours > Saturdays = Youth
but personally I've had a wonderful year in 2008 musically, its like a billion bands that do exactly what I want them to do have turned up, and I'm very happy. Hooray.
if it weren't for NiN
i'd be convinced that i was Sean. Replace them with Metronomy, and I'm there.
i could've been here
but when I got offered a ticket I'd already given up on getting one and got a ticket to see Dylan Moran in Leicester, subsequently ruining that event by sitting through it wishing I was here :(
i still
haven't considered listening to another album whilst driving since that came out.
wrong
high water mark no exceded, i'll give you that, but plenty of good followed.
should I rise
to the 'once good but not anymore' comment?
certainly my
third favourite album of the year:
Cut Copy - In Ghost Colours
Friendly Fires - Friendly Fires
LATE OF THE PIER - FANTASY BLACK CHANNEL
its been a good year.
please to see that The Enemy are being referenced there too.
One Day Like This
frankly, if I was on the panel, they could have the award for this song alone anyway, so fucking perfect in a Radio 2 but not shit kind of way that it is.
Cut Copy AND Here Is The News?
This is my favourite article ever.
which kind of misses the point
so I'll frown again :(
It's spelt MINNAARS!
damn it :(
I enjoyed it
I think 25+ and you're safe
Literally
Killers + Orbison + Stuart Price = Potential Awesome / Wankfest.
This is the most almost great but maybe terrifying news I've ever heard.
am I wrong...
...the be warming* to Kaiser Chiefs after hating them for so long? You have only enough energy to hate something passionately for a finite time before the walls ome tumbling down and you start thinking 'actually the end of The Angry Mob isn't terrible, and Ricky Wilson is quite funny in a silly litle scamp kind of way' in a similar way that I did to Razorlight. Oh Johnny, you're encouragable.
*does not include Peanut.
i think i may
have to go to this
The Bears Are Coming
remains my favourite thing in the world, but this is a 8-9/10 album, so very happy that my expectations have been surpassed, can't wait to get hold of a shop copy of it and hear this hidden track...
I still think
my favourite is Digital Ash. Am I that wrong?
good gag/picture sign off
I couldn't agree with this review more. I wasn't expecting much, but I didn't expect this to sound so phoned-in.
i'm more in love with her
and will fight you to prove that.
Neon Neon
just because its Gruff based. Otherwise Do You Like Rock Music? Ta.
me too
although everyone ignored mine the other day
I'm a lowly Grade 4 minion
Nick is SO1, the S stands for senior. I think he's chief executive or something.
Trent FM Arena?
wut? Ice Arena yeah? I ain't going to nowhere sponsored by that shower of shite
this is easily
the best news story ever
shush
they'll throw you out too.
it was an obvious point surely
headstones of the famous do get nicked. Ones with seminal lyrics on especially so. I wasn't attempting to justify grave theft, sorry.
I agree
but if you're going to have such a brilliant headstone, idiots will be attracted.
What exactly do you do with a stolen tombstone?
that actually
sounds well good.
can you give me a brief synopsis
of the intro? work blockage...
They're represented by this list
are they not? ZING!
I own more than 50% of this list, yus.
To conclude, hooray for Cut Copy.
In Ghost Colours
is my favourite thing that ever happened ever.
while the arguments and shouting and tears
at the first flash of flesh from an as yet incomplete list amuse me, let me say now that if Cut Copy aren't involved, I WILL SHOUT ALSO.
the Crystal Castles album
is fucking ace though. pft.
moi?
Cut Copy - Errors - Crystal Castles - M83 - Hot Chip
I'm not sure when my musical taste became so blinkered, but 5 albums I love right there. Cut Copy would make it into my top 5 albums of my life I think. Yes.
I'm ashamed
that I was able to identify it for you fairly swiftly.
