registration
The thing that drove me not to go last year and probably this, was the registration aspect. I could just about cope with the military operation required to purchase tickets in previous years but the additional burden of making sure everyone in your party was registered and that everyone had the right registration codes for buying tickets, just put me right off. There's no spontaneity it just becomes a bothersome.
I know ticket touting was perceived to be a problem but registration made it feel like it was some kind of scouting conference. The solution to the problem is over the top and bordering on authoritarian. For me it had become an obsession for the organisers which grew out of control. There's always going to be touting at these type of events it's almost part of it all and Eavis should just learn to live with it.
ah
When an EMI employee says "things are better" what she/he meant to say is that they've just benn given a pay rise, a new computer, and a bean bag.
erm
the band is from Montreal as it was founded in Montreal but the members of the band are not.
Shock and indeed horror.
that's retail for ya
I'm hoping that they will actually maintain the fopp brand and perhaps slowly expand it to take over the existing HMV stores.
The future in brick and mortar music stores is those aimed at music lovers and real value. HMV has neither of these, many albums are price over their original price on amazon a couple of years after release.
balls
with most of the acts flying in and/or out on private jets, the words 'Carbon Neutral' just don't match. And don't give me any of that planting trees bull crap, it has very little afect on the volume of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere.
They should have got local acts to play if they wanted a carbon neutral event.
ditch the horrible myspace designs
Head for last.fm social networking designed around music instead of an accidental add-on
4 tracks
according to http://www.theregister.co.uk/2007/01/02/singles_chart_digital/
they should raise it to 6, get rid of price restrictions and include eps in the chart. But that would be sensible.
Actually...
If anything the death of physical formats will be good for bands and smaller labels. Distribution of a files is a lot easier and cheaper than distribution of cds or vinyl. Most artists make most of their money from their live performances anyway so why not give away music for free? Stuff like cds and vinyl can be for the hardcore fan and old school muso.
The current methods for sale of music are fraught with difficulties and pitfalls, such as copy protection and incompatibility between services. Most of these services are setup so that at one time or other you will have to pay for your music again and frankly until they sort that out I'm sticking with cds.
well
the listings could be better, not living in London I'm yet to find anything that interests me. User submission of events should be the number 1 priority for any new website coding.
I get the feeling you could have more news if you had more people writing it, obviously you've got to keep it well written, relevent and interesting but more please it's one of the main reasons I visit the site.
I don't read the reviews very much but this could be because I'm a bit lazy but also might be because the frontpage is a bit busy. I'm not really sure if images would help but maybe just one list (rather than 3) the current lists on the frontpage are too long and the items stay on the frontpage for a long period of time. Make it more like the news page.
hmmm
sounds better than listening to Viking FM, hopefully a decent alternative to radio 1 & 2 :)
don't worry
no one listens to the breakfast show on a saturday, after 10 is the main event...
to be fair
"creating a new line of affordable computers aimed at inner-city children"
actually makes it sound something beyond a cheap marketing stunt
the band seem to agree
when i saw them live they hardly touched the newer material meaning their live show was exactly the same.
No wonder they're not doing anymore live dates it'd get a bit dull after a while.
i hear
his next album is going to be called the 'Crazy, crazy life' it will be a concept album telling the Crazy Frog's life story from spawning to the tragic accident with a blender.
Dave Gilmour is going to produce.
bah
be the other way round here Dan Brown's style of prose is atrious, it'd have to be the worst film in the history of films to be worse than the book.
dammit jets
do you have to come to newcastle the day before my dissertation deadline?
any other day in my entire life would be more preferable!
eh? it's not as if he is doing a DiS podcast he's working for a station whos playlist already consists mostly of chili peppers and james blunt. If anything he might actually improve the standard of the station, this admittedly would not be hard.
carlisle
it doesn't get much bigger than the sands! girls aloud played there you know.
last time
I went to an nme tour gig more than a fifth of the crowd left before the headline set including myself but this did not make the news. The headliner was Funeral for a Friend which perhaps explains it.
I still don't understand why maximo are doing this tour, I think personally think it's a mistake by their management. They should be in the studio recording or taking a break ready for the summer festivals.
.
i don't even know what a fopp store looks like, but music zone is 10 times better than mvc. I wouldn't want to work for music zone though it's a bit stack them high sell them low.
Diver

Re: Bob 'n' Bono among faves for Peace Prize
Re: CD Wrong: online retailer riles the BPI
I've never been got for import duty, they wouldn't be so popular if you did (they must be popular as BPI are sueing them) other European countries would get charged import duty for this but it follows they might source differently for different countries.
Winter Wainwright Assault
I might go but we'll see his album are still wrapped in cellaphane.
Live8 not about publicity? Backstage Pete bigs up
sales of echoes up 1342%
sales of up the bracket down 35%
I guess there's always live9 ;)
Re: Ross named most important radio personality
his radio show on the other hand is top class, they need to bump wogan off sharpish and get Ross on breakfast
And where the hell is Mark Radcliffe in that list?
