I prefer his earlier,

strummier stuff.

They are bloody brilliant

This really reminds me of when I saw them a few weeks ago and i'm delighted to be able to experience it, kinda, again. Shall probably be released in a deluxe cd/dvd issue I suppose when they win the Mercury next year.

^this

made up word.

United Kingdom.
Currently.

This is based on the recent Australian setlist

though I would prefer it if the chose the setlist from your list...that's mighty fine.

Bah, no Midlands date!?

After playing Supersonic, would have thought they'd have got a good turnout in Brum or Nottingham...

Nice work

Murmur was the first R.E.M. lp that I bought, in 86/87. I've still only got it on vinyl but will put this on my Christmas list! I've only seen them once, NEC on the Green Tour 1989, but that's still one of the best shows ever and this is still one of the best records.

Great band

I used to go and see them ALL THE TIME. Listening to Hands On on last.fm now, it's streaming and sounds brilliant. 2nd album is tosh, i've got that on CD whereas i've all the EPs on vinyl- maybe that's the difference!

After several listens

and seeing them live last week, I blummin LOVE this album. It's definately an 8.5, maybe a 9 and nudging ahead of TVOTR for current favourite of the year, but I haven't listened to Fleet Foxes or Alopecia for a few weeks...

We got release the bats

in Birmingham, maybe they'll see how that goes then pull their collective finger out of their London arsehole...

I was watching

some festival show on mtv2 the other day, and the Enemy came on. Without any prompting, my six year old son said "Is that his real face?" about goblin chops. Ha ha ha!!

I always liked Hooky

But thought perhaps he was a bit of a dick, but I like all of what he says here. Lesser Free Trade Hall though, isn't it? In Manchester.

Old news

but a happy reminder. New album seems to be fabulous after several airings, and a top live band too. All good.

Yea, the Agnostic thingy was great

Also the Cave Singers were amazing (and amazed at the crowd reaction!) Caribou were phenomenal (i'd never seen them before) and I really enjoyed Archie Bronson Outfit and Wild Beasts. Amongst many others, Thought the line up was weaker than last year, but seems they know a fair bit about music that Jo and Danny...

Yeah, but..

Good Answer had a bunch of songs that were on Nice... and not many people knew of them back then. It's not like you can go and buy Good Answer in a shop. Bad answer?
I love the Spinto Band. Huzzah for them.

Always sad to hear

of an early death. Loved the World of Twist singles Sweets and She's a Rainbow.

120/180

Mix-tape magician. Fair comment.

ooh

Up to £5.50!

Ha

With all those appalling sponsors name places, The Palace of Auburn Hills sounds simply divine.

4AD

My favourite label of all time, there was a period when I bought everything they released. Just as well I don't now, but still some good acts to add to TV on the Radio, The Breeders and Beirut. Can't think of any more current signings..

Yay

Hopefully a full band show!

Just Manchester

There's a poster to prove it and everything!

Well...

Still about 40 acts to be announced, hoping for Yeasayer, Fleet Foxes, Fujiya and Miyagi, of Montreal, Polyphonic Spree, White Rabbits, The Bees and Menomena. I can but hope!!

Great fun!

Well, they were in 1989 when I saw them.

When was the last time...

you bought a single from a shop? It used to be all the rage when I was a lad, etc.

Hot off the press

A 22 year old photo. Nice. Only Gedge remains.

*Moka

Apparently.

Hmm,

No one in that list makes me excited, mainly because I haven't heard of most of them! Still going though.

I don't get it.

Saw them supporting Ian Brown, and
it was just cringe worthy. (Cue comments about Ian Brown being cringe-worthy, he's not. I said so.)
That track with the sweary chorus is embarrassing. I have been wrong before mind. I said Kylie would never make it as a pop star.

Community hotline!

Starting to like the community column, I got tickets instantly! £190 for 4 tho, ouch.

Full reunion?

I know they are using the old pics in the ad's but is it really Colm, Belinda and Debbie as well as Sir Shields? Isn't Debbie Goodge a London cabbie now? (whispers... it could be shit) They were the loudest band I ever saw (Birmingham institute in 1991) and Itreasure the pain!

SFA

at Green man would be perfect, but like the man says, Sunday night is too late. Malkmus really suffered because a) noone knew his songs and b) most of the crowd left after Devendra anyway.
