I've heard of bubbi morthens...

ace he is.

I disagree...

but a well written argument nonetheless. I like the record more after each listen. I think it's a bit short and monotonous at times, but they get their point across.

good list..

lots to chatter about.. and I'm with Diver on the Kills.. but then again, someone has to like it.

mine..

in no particular order:
8. Kathleen Edwards - Asking For Flowers
7. Frightened Rabbit - Midnight Organ Fight
6. Hjaltalin - Sleepdrunk Sessions
5. The Envy Corps - Dwell
4. The Weakerthans - Reunion Tour
3. Amadou and Mariam - Welcome to Mali
2. Kyte - Kyte
1. The Acorn - Glory Hope Mountain

but..

what if the world is better off without this CD? Does it still warrant points? I understand you must understand and be critical of the artist intentions when reviewing a record, but god, have you heard this? It makes me shudder. I have no idea how any reasonably intelligent person would consider this crap 'worthwhile' in any stage of production.

I agree completely.

This is absolute tripe. Good work mate.

Andrzej

one of the articles I've ever read of yours mate. You hit the nail on the head here, just a beautifully mad piece of work this album is. Barnes' is a modern day musical Joyce, or even a maverick like David Foster Wallace.

sounds good..

If mr webb attends, I'm there.

WWPJ..

are signed to fatcat too.. single in November, album in 2009 (JAG)

RIP indeed.

a hell of a talent. and 38? too soon.

brilliant word francis..

really well written review

I'd vote for..

Rachel Unthank. has anyone heard this? it's brilliant.

why..

does it matter which label puts it out? If you like the music, isn't that all that matters? Why insert useless politics into the equation?

Final Fantasy

too is confirmed. that's good. I'll be there..

One Little Indian

is completely independent. I work for them.

damn right..

I poured maple syrup all over myself, put on crystal castles and went riding on a moose with a mountie down highgate hill.

happy

independence day!!!

lots of good choices..

I'd vote for Sandro Perri, Shad (way better than Cadence Weapon) and Wintersleep. The Cons will win.

finally..

someone agrees with me that there is absolutely nothing of note this band is producing that requires a hint of attention. It's not that they are shit, but just, unnecessary. Good on ya Mr Baghs.

I'm there.

awesome

It all about taste right??

I think those american/canadian bands doing the rounds mate are far more interesting than the tight jeans two chord aesthetic trolling around these parts.. but then again, you know my stance on the clangy indie garbage..

I think we should all just listen to Radio 1's Big Weekend. We'll all agree then.

me reviewing them 10 days later..

would have been overkill.. They were ACE though.. I love them.

Mr. skinner

is a fan.. agrees with me. 66% is a pass.

Patrick Watson...

was reviewed a few weeks prior by Grant Walker in Amsterdam:

I hope so..

This was my third Miracle Fortress show and my third disappointment in general. I do love the album though.. Maybe I'm unlucky.. I hope so.

sunday was ace..

highlight for me of the year too... one of them definitely.

tour in June

TBA.. expect dates :)

nice..

I'm interested.

exactly what I think of the album..

cheers Mike.. too much tripe to not be called as such.

certainly wish I was there..

ya dastard :)

One of the best..

I adored him when I was studying drums. A true legend. RIP.

noted..

I know the stacks are fake.. apologies for not noting that... also, had beer spilled on me three times.. mostly because of ineptitude and crazy teenagers (not the band). I call that cramped.

I'm jealous..

sounds amazing Grant. kudos.

well done...

mr patashnik

great review..

it was so busy though.

surrounded...

is lovely. so is anathallo. will be there.

completely agree..

I grew up listening to Corb Lund.. I'm thrilled he's getting some positive press out here, as he's an indie legend in Canada.

I liked it.

that is all.

so excited

to see him in March. he's a god.

I like DeVotchka...

wicked news.

woot!

exactly.

It's certainly not..

bad sandwich

excellent...

great read and so true.

holy fuck...

well written mate. kudos.

excellent stuff...

all in all, great words here.

I love how

I'm not in any of the pics. haha

so well written..

I still love the band, but thhe bread is growing stale a bit.

she's fit..

and i like her music taste. win win.

ace.

bravo
