I'm unsure of the song titles but yep - I'll second that. They are good live. We put them on at one of our nights recently and they were really good. As Dom says though, maybe they just need to stamp their own sound on things. Veers very close to Maps and Sigur Ros. Good things will come though I'm sure.

.

Can't they send her to Gitmo or something?!?

.

Eloise is a great track. There's one other stand out track too - think it could be track 7.

On the whole though a cracking album!

.

Boo for a Thursday night in Brum! I wont be able to make it :(

.

Really liking these far better than the bands with shitty social commentaries and half baked philosophies for songs!

.

They're right! I've heard this shower of shite a fair few times on Radio 1!

.

Winner stays on.....wtf...possibly the worst line in a somg ever. They are an insult to the guitar.

.

Walking through town is quite scary!

Woooohoooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo.

.

I think the population has exceeded 300000 now (according to an Icelandic friend who was quite excited about it)

Anywhere that reads out deaths on national Radio has to be cool. I can't see the BBC doing it any time soon!

.

A Butlins red coat singing the Hokey Cokey!

.

I don't know about that gig, seen them in Coventry...but that review is awful!

.

What the heck are my Irish brothers doing letting those numpties into the Country.....I dunno what the world is coming to, send em back to Butlins!

Naaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa do the hokey cokey.

.

Nizlopi (with their JCB juggernaut) have been around for aggggges now. They released that song as a single earlier in the year. They released their album ages ago (with JCB on). They even released that album ages and ages before that (with JCB on - I'm talking years now here) and that was before their signed a publishing deal, the record was re-packaged and re-issued with that comp. They turned down some big deals and kept it on their own label. I think if people read up on em they will see that a) it's not an xmas song and b) they had a massive following by word of mouth pre JCB release and most of those fans probably liked them for their stuff that is really quite different from JCB. It shows how silly some people (including those in bands :p) can be.

.

I tried the other day to go on their myspace but it was down at the time. really liking some of their ideas.

.

That's cool John, read they'd all gone - first 50 were ltd right?

.

Still not managed to hear em but all I have read about this in other places is about werd packaging. Can you shed any light?

.

I know the guys and have a lot of respect for the hard work they have put in. As I said before people don't see that. It is v different from their other stuff. Altho this isn't my fave type of music (see ratings) it's far better than pish like Kaiser Shits and Arctic Spunkeys. Now that would give UK music a bad name as being fucking idiotic music!

.

Hope you're wrong mate! But then seeing more of that lass would make up for the music!

.

Not much of a Doc then Zen! Maybe stateside you're just use to people singing bullshit songs with no grounding in reality.

Silly bet though, PM me for my addy to send that $10 and any other silly bets you wanna lay on!

.

I think it's like most things, if it's in the charts people hate it (or the attention it's getting as it's somehow lost its kudos) but at the end of the day this isn't a band who are a flash in the pan, overnight success story, they have grafted away, played tiny venues and build up a massive live following because of word of mouth. I guess some of the blub people (like Richard and Saggy juggs) spin makes em sound cheesy or novelty but personally I think their is far more to be found in their songs than bands like Arctic Spunkeys etc....plus they played on a few of our songs before they were famous (one is on our myspace) even if we are poles apart in terms of style. Plus they are two of the nicest guys you can wish to meet.

.

What a tosh review based on half baked presumptions.

Records Comp?!? That's their own label that they set up aggggges ago. If you venture into Fopp the observant ones will notice that the Album this was on was released by them on the same label and sat at the top of the XFM/Fopp unsigned charted for over 6mths.

The guys are now in their late 20s but as the song was writen ages before all these top 100 twatish programs 20somethings remember (like Wizbit) I doubt the references to things like transformers were put in their to appeal to office saddos.

How many people in offices use excercise books? It may well tie in better with daydreaming about not going to school (esp as you have a learning difficulty)

If you take a listen to the album, or listen to their latest live tracks you will see what they really have going on.

Most of their rise has been word of mouth (internet) and by putting on guerilla style gigs where they walk around the venue, get up on the bar, get other people up to rap, sing in Korean (where they played a festival) etc...

Anyway, rant over. Try researching bands/labels a lil better though in future.

.

I had the misfortune of seeing RCGF recently (I say that but the keys player was cute) they were rubbbbbbbbish! Will check the others out though!

Omerta - One Chance

I think they have something good going on - far better than the pap like Arctic Spunkeys etc

TEAM tour ditches dates: Exeter, Plymouth and WSM cancelled

is someone from DIS fucking someone in TEAM.

Played with them and while they were nice guys not that great (despite putting a lot of sweat into it)

Don't Fall Out, Boys - Killers dig their detractors

So does MD for his lack of respect for Ronnie!

Re: Upstairs at No. 10 with The Charlatans

Jesus, what a prick! You have some serious issues, are you Tim Burgess? Coz you're taking my opinions on 3 fucking albums to heart old chap!

Re: Upstairs at No. 10 with The Charlatans

Ernie, that's your opinion you're entitled to it...as for making me seem silly I think not old chap. Thinking that there are rights and wrong in music is indeed silly.

I was stating my opinion - for me, the earlier songs were better - granted the production of the 1st couple of albums is a far cry from what they're doing now but I was mainly on about the songs/ideas they were conveying.

Upstairs at No. 10 with The Charlatans

The albums up to Charlatans were good but then they tailed off, got old and only did the odd tune worth mentioning. But before that they did some great stuff. Compare it to some of the gash around at the time!!!

Special Needs - Blue Skies

Please stay in London Special Needs!

Lyca Sleep - Closer In

We played with them a while back and they had some great sonics. We saw them recently and they've got lots tighter but everyone still was muttering 'early verve' they do have a sound I like but sometimes I think they lack a 'song' at the heart of it all. Maybe I needed some narcotics. Still better than a lot of garbage i.e Kaiser Shites and all that tosh!

Be Your Own PET release EP#2 as competition hots up

Emperor's new clothes, flava of the month.

Shit, shit, lease.

Forget the age, they're wankety wank!

Kaiser Chiefs - Every Day I Love You Less And Less

My ex gf likes them.....enough said....she's a top shop punk princess!

Closing In On Sleep...

Jesus Deluxe are immense!!!

Eels offer new album. And strings

I may have to pop along to Warwick- asw Tinariwen there and the crowd was great - amazing mix of ages etc.. and everyone was getting so into it!

Thievery Corporation collaborator commits suicide

That 1st album was amazing - I never knew who sang on it but Lebanese Blonde is still in my playlist now - peace out!

The early spring (yet still snowing) festival round-up

I wanna go to Truck and Benicassim this year - Also Iceland Airwaves if I have the money and then maybe the festival in the desert next Jan!

Re: Busted - is the end nigh?

And what do this shitestar sound like?

Re: I Like Trains - New bands that we like:

yeah - liking the sound - one of the songs sounds really like a doves song - not sure which off the top off my head as I'm shite with titles!

Holden harbours pop aspirations

It's just a shame when there are so many talented musicians out there doing stuff but not getting deals/distribution/management when people put money/effort into celeb flash in the pans.

Razorlight - no more albums?

I'm sure The Strokes said something similar as did The Libertines....here's to hoping that cock sucker will crawl back under a squat

Razorlight go super-size.

Cutter! I'm hearing ya! Good songs and the drumming sounded good on then songs and then everything else seems pisha nd I saw them at Reading (on tv mind) and they looked wankety wank! Faux rock and roll - JB thought about smashing his guitar and had 2nd thoughts - places it down and stumbled and fell over the lead and the rest of the band (sans that drummer) weren't holding it together!

Whose TEAM are you on, anyway? UK rockers tour...

We playde with them a while back, really nice guys and they did rock out and put 100% in on stage. If there's a crowd of ppl in2 it it would be cool as!

Radio 1 announce Peel tribute night

here here, does sound like a cool night!

Re: FREE ENTRY: New Monthly DiS Night @ The Marquee, London

Good choice of pic - it certainly made me read this story!

FREE ENTRY: New Monthly DiS Night @ The Marquee, London

Who is that picture of?

Re: Kaiser Chiefs: To Go Top 20?

It's not a bad tune. I still wanna get some dead 60's singles! Why are there so few good places that sell alt singles!

Special Needs

When I saw Special Needs I didn't really rate the songs, it was the quirkiness that I thought was mildly amusing. Ross, you talk about speed and ego but personally from seein SN a few times I think the spazzing, doo-whopping, fun fairs and hads are all a little pretentious. But then I guess I'm not used to things from the big smoke.

Of the other unsigned bands I had seen around that time it was the big epic sounds of Wish or Lyca Sleep that I preferred. Yet Special Needs are the ones who go on to have the bigger/better deal (so it seems).

So I guess fair play to 'em!

DiS Celebrates Four Years: Come Party!

I wasn't having a go at the other bands, I should make that clear, I was just dissappointed to see DMBT playing this great event! I thought one of the DIS bands would have been abetter shout. None the less, did you expect DIS to be what it is today Sean when you set it up those many years ago?

DiS Celebrates Four Years: Come Party!

Dis - well done on getting 2 the grand old age of 4!

You should have had someone better to help you celebrate it though!
