we calculated the list using the seeds of these comments http://drownedinsound.com/news/4135904 - not a lot of hip hop in there either.
my suggestion: start championing what should be in there, not moaning about what isn't in there.
that's a dumb post and i dont even know what the line of best fit is? we're big supporters of Bella Union and the likes of Beach House were in our long list. Having heard the Andrew Bird album i wouldn't put it past them filling our list next year.
you'll be pleased to know we also have the Lost 8 of '08 feature coming up!
I haven't stopped playing the Kills album since it came in and it was in a huge amount of both staff and readers top 8 album of the year lists, so nur-nur-nur, go back to listening to JoFo and talk about what you love, and ignore what you don't.
that very few people mentioned Flying Locus and they didn't really feature in our coverage
for being a shite sub-editor
stupid new html.
blimey, i didn't spot that reported anywhere else
that was announced elsewhere last week but tis only in america
really really lush http://www.myspace.com/rememberremember
and also i think you can wear them to school too!
he put 7 but there's something broken with the release database and Tom is away graduating today
reviews are often the opinion of one person. we don't have some grubby party line but we do try to encourage our writers to think both subjectively and objectively.
this album is brilliant and has had such an incredible influence on my life/music taste. it's amazing that we get something like this and there's instantly some moaners moaning.
I think Dodgy did it already :)
am sure they will in due course
my fault. forgot sheff is monday, manchester is tuesday and that my brain dont work BC (before caffeine).
at least one of those is likely to be in the DiS end of year, proper.
that's just the top 15
is very much what i want DiS to be about.
is kinda older bands who inspired a raft of newer bands i.e. if you like this brand new band check out these older acts that you might not be aware of. and then the alternating fortnight it's an older album and some of the things it has influenced. it's a two way street of hopefully people will discover some things which it's assumed they already know about in columns like this.
returning editor of DiS is not a fan... still haven't managed to listen to the album all the way through.
now in order of when they're posted.
he couldn't see everything... feel free to write your own reviews of your highlights.
DiS' top 50 is still yet to be compiled, innit.

there's never been any grand editorial line with these tips and despite their impact are very much down to the most involved in the site individuals at the time.
there's still more to come. this was just some very early on things people were excited about. surprised not to hear a mention of Big Pink too.
i've read this phrase a few places lately, including here http://fearandwords.tumblr.com/
there are plenty more parts of this coming up over the next few weeks
this review fell back into our queue when we put some new features online, so anyone feeling like they're suffering from groundhog day you really aren't going crazy
4 is not recommended, 5 is average, 6 is good but not for everyone, 7 is recommended for most tastes, 8 is pretty exceptional everyone should check it out, 9 is album of the year contender, 10 is perfection
worked fine an hour ago
to give an individual insight without, yuhknow, talking as one person living through one set of events. if you want the skinny mass version of events there are about 2trillion news outlets and media formats to digest it in.
someone posted something which was exclusive to DiS
something's broken overnight. should be fixed in a little bit.
the concept of "we" is a ridiculous one.
it's like a noughties Goo Goo Dolls, feels very calculated...
DiS did promote their second ever gig at the Dublin Castle, with, if memory serves, Bloc Party as support (possibly in one of their pre-Bloc carnations)
and type out a comment.
and probably come back to read my comment and reply to it. all of which could have been time spent being positive about something you do love.
dis isn't a ghetto, there's room for evaluation of all types of music which trickles into our world.
the press release didn't say that. shoot 'em!
i really enjoyed it
i forgot to put this up on thursday and was outta the office most of friday
and for more
